Roles and responsibilities

We are seeking a motivated andpassionate Commis Chef to join our team. The Commis Chef will beresponsible for Crafting delicious, high-quality burgers to meetour standards of taste, presentation, and consistency. adhering tothe restaurant's high standards.

KeyResponsibilities:

  • Helpwith the preparation of toppings, sauces, condiments, and otheringredients for burgers.
  • Maintain cleanlinessand organization of the kitchen, following food safety and hygienestandards.
  • Prepare ingredients for daily use(e.g., chopping vegetables, marinating meats, preparingspices).
  • Ensure the proper storage of fooditems, maintaining stock levels and rotating ingredients asneeded.
  • Follow the guidance of the seniorchefs, ensuring dishes are prepared to the highest quality andpresentation standards.
  • Assist with the setupof the kitchen before service and clean up afterservice.
  • Ensure all dishes are prepared in atimely and efficient manner, adhering to kitchen timingrequirements.
  • Take part in special kitchenduties, including food preparation for events, ifrequired.
  • Ensure all cooking equipment iscleaned, maintained, and usedproperly.

Qualifications &Skills:

  • Experience:Prior experience working in fast foods likeburgers.
  • Ability to prepare a variety ofburgers
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced kitchenenvironment.
  • Good knife skills and ability tosafely handle kitchen equipment.
  • Strongcommunication skills and ability to followinstructions.
  • Attention to detail and passionfor food presentation.

  • FoodPreparation:

    • Assist inthe preparation of ingredients for cooking, such as choppingvegetables, preparing meats, and measuring outingredients.
    • Follow recipes and instructionsfrom senior chefs to ensure that dishes are prepared correctly andconsistently.
    • Pre-cook or prepare basic itemslike sauces, soups, salads, and garnishes undersupervision.

  • CookingAssistance:

    • Help in thecooking process, especially during busy periods, by preparing foodunder the guidance of chefs de partie or headchefs.
    • Cook dishes to order, followingspecifications, and ensuring the quality and consistency of thefood.
    • Maintain a clean, organized workstationto ensure smooth and efficientoperations.

  • MaintainingKitchen Hygiene andSafety:

    • Ensure that allfood preparation areas are clean, sanitized, andorganized.
    • Wash and clean utensils, pots, pans,and cooking equipment after use.
    • Adhere to allhealth and safety regulations, including food safety standards, toensure a safe kitchenenvironment.

  • StockControl and InventoryManagement:

    • Assist inmanaging kitchen stock and supplies, including checking the qualityand freshness of ingredients.
    • Ensure that foodand ingredients are stored properly to prevent contamination andspoilage.
    • Report any issues with stock levels,damaged equipment, or shortages to senior kitchenstaff.

  • Assistingwith Plating andPresentation:

    • Help withplating dishes, ensuring that food is presented attractively andaccording to the standards of theestablishment.
    • Assist in garnishing plates withappropriate decorations, herbs, or other finishingtouches.

  • Learningand Development:

    • Takedirection from more experienced chefs and ask questions to developcooking skills and techniques.
    • Participate inkitchen training programs or workshops to improve cookingknowledge, knife skills, and understanding of kitchenoperations.
    • Maintain a positive attitude andeagerness to learn, asking for feedback and striving to improveperformance.

  • SupportingOther KitchenRoles:

    • Assist othermembers of the kitchen team as required, such as helping withcleaning, dishwashing, or other basic tasks during slowerperiods.
    • Be flexible and willing to work acrossdifferent sections of the kitchen (e.g., pastry, grill, prep) togain diverse culinaryexperience.

  • Adheringto the Menu and SpecialRequests:

    • Ensure thatfood is prepared according to the restaurant's menu andthat special dietary requests or modifications are followedaccurately.
    • Help with adjustments to the menuif there are shortages of ingredients or changes inavailability.
