    Job Purpose


Responsible for day-to-day management of Claims and Applications in the Court of First (CFI), Court of Appeal, Small Claims Tribunal (SCT), Probate, and Enforcement (ENF).

The CPO will work closely with the Registrars in the management of the cases coming through the Registry.

Areas of Responsibility
1.

CFI and CA cases:


As a backup
  • Maintain the Registry's documents; including processing documents and making sure they are filed properly. This will include receiving case related documents from parties and/or individuals, stamping/sealing them and scanning if necessary.


As a backup
  • Work with the Judges to ensure judgments for CFI and CA cases are handed down within 3 months after the later of the end of the trial or final submissions unless the case is particularly complex or large in volume, then within 6 months.


As a backup
  • Ensure at least 80% of CFI cases with a trial of less than 5 days be offered for trial within 6 months from the date of their case management conference.

ENF and Probate:


As a backup
  • Maintain the Enforcement and the Probate department's documents; including processing documents and making sure they are filed properly. This will include receiving case related documents from parties and/or individuals, stamping/sealing them and scanning if necessary. Issuing invoices/receipts for payments related to case filings. Maintain a set of flow charts mapping process for the services and procedures.
  • As a back up
  • Oversee all nonjudicial elements of enforcement claims and service requests. This includes ensuring the appropriate forms are available to court users, ensuring compliance with the rules/protocol with the respective other Court, the appropriate involvement of the Execution judges takes place, the appropriate templates in English/Arabic are created/uptodate and that highquality translation services are always available. Affecting all enforcement and service requests made to the DIFC Courts. Liaison with other courts in the U.A.E to develop enforcement and service protocol.
  • Act as backup in overseeing the seizure of assets of Judgment Debtor's in the DIFC. This includes working closely with the enforcement judge, dealing with auction services providers and placing attachments to assets as necessary.

Small Claims Tribunal:

  • Ensure appropriate case management and progression of cases filed in the SCT by keeping cases to the timelines in the DIFC Courts' Rules and internal KPI goals. Aim for all cases to be concluded within 4 to 6 weeks and for all correspondence to be dealt with within 48 hours or sooner.
  • Work with the SCT Judges/ /Mediators to ensure prompt scheduling of Consultations and Hearings and work with SCT Judges to ensure that judgments are handed down within the 46week case conclusion timeframe. Ensure at least 80% of SCT cases are concluded within 46 weeks of successful service.
  • Managing and updating the Case Management System (CMS) and the Tracking sheet on a daily basis. Creation of new cases and new events as well as KPI reports and SCT related statistics. Coordinate with parties/individuals and SCT Judges for case listings
  • Proofread redacted judgments released by the SCT prior to their publication.
  • Coordinate with parties/individuals for case listings across all registries and liaising with all relevant internal team members.
  • Other responsibilities and duties that may be required from time to time.
