Job Description

Job Title: Investigation Officer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Investigation Officer to join our team at Dubai Customs. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting thorough investigations into various cases, gathering and analyzing evidence, and preparing comprehensive reports.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct Comprehensive Investigations: Undertake a thorough examination of case files, gather and record relevant information, and review all attached documents to achieve a comprehensive understanding of the case.
  2. Determine Investigation Scope: Determine the series of crimes, legal obligations, number of interviews and evidence needed, and methods of collecting them to prepare the investigation plan and determine the legal framework under which the type of case and the appropriate investigation falls.
  3. Seek Technical Support: Determine the extent of the need for technical support from internal or external agencies, such as cases requiring an inspection warrant.
  4. Document Investigation Plan: Document the investigation plan by identifying relevant parties involved, scope of the investigation, preparing interview questions, tentative dates, time, location, and legal requirements necessary for the interview and referring them to the group leader for approval.
  5. Obtain Technical Support: Obtain technical support from the Legal Affairs Department or other business units, as well as information received from relevant departments, when needed, and re-examining the case after receiving support and relevant information and reviewing the extent of response during an investigation into the case.
  6. Obtain External Support: Obtain the support of external bodies when needed, in accordance with specific memorandums of understanding to process and complete all possible evidence necessary to resolve the case.
  7. Update Case File: Update the case file by obtaining the required evidence from the client, such as additional photos, information about the client, visiting the crime scene, intelligence information, additional information from other customs departments and centers.
  8. Examine Seized Items: Examine samples of seizures during the investigation, and verify the accuracy of the information contained in the case file with correct and complete information and evidence.
  9. Conduct Interviews: Conduct interviews with the client, maintain the foundations of the interview, and provide evidence to the client if he denies the accusations made.
  10. Prepare Interview Report: Prepare an interview report (in Arabic) which includes recording the investigation/interview, analysis and conclusion, case status, and other relevant documents.
  11. Analyze Investigation Results: Analyze and review the results of the investigation, and determine the need to continue the investigation or prepare the final report.
  12. Prepare Investigation Reports: Prepare investigation reports and send them to the group head for review and approval, along with the technical reports prepared by the technical experts and case recommendations (actions to be taken).
  13. Perform Additional Duties: Perform any duties assigned by the direct manager in a correct and timely manner with reliability, integrity, and ensuring that the assigned tasks are completed to the fullest extent.
