CVD Equipment Corporation, located in Central Islip, NY, has an opportunity for a Junior Staff Accountant who will manage day to day accounting processes, preparing monthly close reconciliations, journal entries, account analyses, bank reconciliations, and general accounting duties. This role will be provide overall support to the Accounting Department as well as assistance with payroll, accounts payable and receivable related duties.

Essential Functions:

• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  
• Play an essential role in the month-end and quarter-end close processes, including preparing journal entries, supporting reconciliations, and account analyses for income statement and balance sheet accounts. This includes researching and coordinating with other departments to obtain transaction information, research reconciling items, and resolve issues.
  
• Assist with preparation of financial statements, and external audit requests, including preparation and review of schedules as assigned.
  
• Aid in the optimization of all ERP system processes.
  
• Actively participate in the completion of timely filing of SEC quarterly and annual financial reporting.
  
• Establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with internal team members and throughout the company.
  
• Perform other accounting and administrative functions as necessary as well as special projects as assigned.
  

Requirements

Education and Qualification Requirements:

• 1-3 years previous related experience in accounting, manufacturing experience a plus.
  
• Fundamental knowledge of GAAP, ASC 606 (revenue recognition) experience a plus.
  
• BS in Accounting (required).
  
• Experience with ERP systems preferred.
  
• Sarbanes-Oxley experience or having worked in a Sarbanes-Oxley environment a plus.
  
  

Required Skills:

• Excellent interpersonal, verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
  
• Excel skills, using pivot tables and v-lookups a plus.
  
• Proven ability to work with minimal direction, as well as be resourceful and independent in solving problems.
  
• High attention to detail and focus on accuracy.
  
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
