Job Purpose-

Reporting to the CCO, responsible for reviewing, approving, recommending, monitoring and controlling the credit risks in the assigned portfolio.

Job Accountabilities -

Credit Management

  • Review the Credit Analysis of applications / proposals conducted by the assigned credit team and the submitted Credit Application to ensure completeness, identification of all risks and all credit policies and external regulatory guidelines are adhered to, while ensuring the recommendations are in line with the Bank's strategy, Bank's policies, financing structure is appropriate and requisite mitigants and covenants are incorporated.
  • Meticulous review of the assigned portfolio to identify potential weaknesses, trigger early warning and effecting necessary actions to remediate the accounts.
  • Preservation of high standards of credit risk assessment in line with the Risk Appetite Statement, Credit Policy, Standards and related procedures.
  • Provide overview of the corporate credit portfolio in respect of exposure to individual industry sectors and awareness of the local/ regional market.
  • Allocate tasks to team members to ensure a proper load, recognizing experience, complexity, load etc.
  • Periodically assess the quality of the analysis performed by the team and manage the team to ensure quick turnaround time for credit approvals to increase efficiency and meet the agreed turnaround time.
  • Assist in conducting evaluations and provide recommendation to CCO.
  • Ensure operating at all times within legal and regulatory parameters.
  • Ensure thorough preparation for Credit Committee meetings, to present credit proposals / recommendations.
  • Ensure all credit proposals / requests are approved as per delegated limits of authority and all required approvals of Management Credit Committee/Board are obtained.
  • Ensure ratification by appropriate authority wherever any urgent approvals are permitted.
  • Interact with internal audit and regulatory audit for their requirements and address their concerns on respective accounts and portfolio.
  • Review the risk rating of the accounts in line with the policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for monitoring of existing credits and systematic classification into appropriate categories
  • Proscribe inappropriate behaviour, products or services from a Credit perspective in order to highlight issues, early warning signs and protect the Bank from potential Credit exposure.
  • Escalate problematic past-due clients to appropriate levels; propose restructured solutions as needed and actively contribute to their resolution.

People Management and Organization Structure

  • Support the achievement of the Credit objectives through effective leadership while also setting individual objectives for subordinates, managing their performance, and developing and motivating them in order to maximize the subordinates' and the respective team's overall performance.
  • Support establishment of a culture of intelligent Credit-taking; increase awareness and use of credit management best practices through educational programs, training processes and personal mentoring of subordinates and respective business team.
  • Developing staff capabilities through on the job training
  • Assess Team Performance and ensure proper work allocation within the Team.

Committees Participation

  • Attend Credit Committee meetings as may be required, to present proposals and ensure compliance with Credit policies.

Internal Collaboration

  • Liaison with Compliance, Legal and other departments to ensure all relevant regulatory and government requirements are complied with.
  • Assist CCO in the development and maintenance of Invest Bank's Credit framework and evaluation methodology by attending to assigned tasks or projects.
  • Assist CCO in suggestions for improvement of credit assessments, credit process and policies and any project assigned.

Reports

  • Ensure that all reports for Credit are prepared / reviewed and meet Invest Bank's requirements, policies, and standards.
  • Prepare and review certain management reports related to the credit and update CCO.
  • Participate in the credit portfolio review, monitoring and other management exercises including Specific reviews.

Qualifications Experience & Skills-

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Business or Professional Certification with specialization in Finance, Accounting or any equivalent specialization.

Experience

  • 10 – 12 years relevant experience in banking sector, including at least 4 years in positions of progressively increasing managerial responsibilities in Credit Risk Management function.

Job Specific Skills

  • In-depth knowledge of the corporate banking sector products and business strategies
  • Extensive knowledge of credits policies and Credit management principles.
  • Excellent knowledge of the local and international Credit standards and Regulations.
  • High sense of responsibility and accountability.

Generic Skills Requirements

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Team player, motivator and mentor.
  • UAE National preferred

Competencies

  • Decision Maker with Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, presentation and influencing skills.
