New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) seeks to appoint an AssistantDirector of Administration Global Education reporting to theAssociate Vice Chancellor and Vice Provost of Global Education andOutreach.
As a critical member of the administrative leadership of GlobalEducation the Assistant Director is responsible for developing andimplementing the activities that support the strategy of GlobalEducation. This includes planning organizing and directing thedaytoday operations of the Office of the Associate ViceChancellor/Vice Provost for Global Education and Outreach whichprovides academic and administrative leadership for programs ofglobal education in the areas of semester abroad visiting studentprograms JTerm in Abu Dhabi and abroad regional academic seminarscommunitybased learning summer experiential learning and the Officeof Social Responsibility.
Skilledand experienced in academic administration they are responsible fordeveloping the Annual Planning Budget APB) and Academic andAdministrative Staffing Plan across office areas overseeing theGlobal Education operating budget of $500K managing thedeliverables for JTerm and summer faculty and instructor selectiondeployment orientation and support; organizing the content andevent planning of Global Education conferences workshops and VIPvisits; producing and managing institutional research area data andreporting; supports the Associate Vice Chancellor/Vice Provost inplanning and implementing new curricular programs and initiativesin the UAE and abroad; organizing and managing the MOU andpartnership agreements of the office. Responsible for organizingand supervising the searches for vacant staff positions; overseeingstaff development learning plans and performance review processes;leading crossprogram teams in officewide strategic administrativeinitiatives.
KeyResponsibilities:

Academic Planning andAdministration
  • Responsiblefor developing reports and managing the Offices institutionalresearch and data working closely with the Registrar facultyProvost Office and Academic HR to ensure accurate reporting andprovide feedback to improve systems
  • Supportcurricular planning development management andupdates
  • Lead the planning of the academicyearlong calendar and activities
  • Develop andimplement systems/ repositories for class syllabi faculty liststeaching evaluations textbook orders etc. which are also necessaryfor faculty reviews and accreditation
  • Lead theOffice staff in developing/maintaining archival procedures for theproper privacycompliant storage and access toinformation
  • Organize the UndergraduateEducation Workstream the Global SiteSpecific Advisory Committeesand the Global Education Faculty Advisory Committee to ensureexcellent record keeping decision flows andfollowthrough
  • Support the AVC/VP withdeveloping and curating the content of academic conferencesincluding the Global Curriculum Conference Site DirectorsConference Gulf Intelligence Industry Academe Workshop Summit onInnovation and Leadership MLK Day with Global Liberal Studies andacademicretreats
Operations
  • Leadall operational aspects of running the Office and manageoperational projects including core project elements deliverabletimelines resources and funding
  • Responsible forrecruiting building and managing the necessary teams to deliverstrategic projects supporting the Universitys missionsuccessfully
  • Develop and implement riskmanagement strategies governance quality assurance issue resolutionreporting and timelines
  • Organize and leadregular stakeholder meetings to provide and gather feedbackhighlight risks and resolve anyissues
AreaResearch Researcher Planning Recruitment andSupport
  • Managethe delivery of the Offices Research Program through researcherhiring and support
  • Support the development andimplementation of the Provosts Global Faculty Symposium theCommunityengaged Learning Research Initiative the IDI and theGlobal Identities longitudinal survey and course evaluationresults
  • Manage the Offices reporting onsocietal and educationalimpact
OfficeOutreachSupport
  • Collaboratewith external relations to upgrade messaging web presence andpublications related to academicprograms
  • Liaise with the Career DevelopmentCenter on matters related to alumni and internships and with theOffice of Undergraduate Research on matters related toundergraduate research
Financial Management
  • Leadthe development of the units annual operating budget incollaboration with the Office of FiscalAffairs
  • Responsible for overseeing the unitsoperating budget including review and approval of daytodaytransactions
  • Responsible for developinginternal financial reports to inform and support leadershipdecisions within the unit
  • Work closely withProvost Office Finance University Finance Legal Human ResourcesRisk Management and Procurement on implementing and realizingOffice financial plans and requirements contracts andMOUs
  • Direct the Offices financial activities;and provide appropriate authorizations andapprovals
  • Responsible for the authoritymanagement and reporting of budget as well as all office financialplanning and analysis
OfficeAdministration
  • Direct andmanage the administrative staff in the AVC/VPs Office to ensuredelivery of all administrative requirements for the Office and leadcrossprogram initiatives such as IDBEA sustainability andAIassisted administration
  • Responsible for stafforganizational planning and recruitment; staff performance andprobationary reviews; team mentoring; and development andtraining
  • Work in partnership with the seniorleaders of the Global Education programs to ensure the continuedexpansion collaboration and delivery of the Strategic Academic Planand student successinitiatives
FacultyRecruitment and FacultySupport
  • Manage and directthe recruitment and onboarding of over one hundred JTerm and summerfaculty and instructors
  • Advise faculty in areasincluding special needs workplace accommodations and grievances andprovide direction accordingly
  • Liaise with theOffice of Academic Appointments to stay abreast of policies thatpertain to faculty recruitment and retention

  • 7 years ormore experience in comparable positions with a record ofadvancement and growth at progressively more responsible levelspreferably in higher education or in an educationrelated positionwithin an established international organization or governmentalbody operating in the U.A.E.
  • Experience workingwith institutions of multinational multiculturalnature
  • Excellent organizational ability to setpriorities organize workload handle multiple responsibilities andmeet deadlines while maintaining consistent accuracy and attentionto detail
  • Excellent quantitative skills withexperience in preparing reports that areanalytical
  • Supervisory ability independentinitiative and the ability to work as part of ateam
  • The capacity to undertake multiple ongoingassignments and complete them in a timelyway
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearlyand effectively to a variety of constituents (faculty staffstudents community organizations businesses) in both oral andwritten forms
  • Personal presence that canindependently and professionally interact with and represent theOffice to visiting scholars faculty candidates representatives ofNYUAD and peer institutions community partners and UAE entitiesimportant to the work of the Office andUniversity
