JOBDESCRIPTION
Demonstrateknowledge and skill requirements regarding his/her role in theSafety Management Program (Safety/Security), Infection Control,Hazardous Materials, Emergency Preparedness, Life Safety, MedicalEquipment and Utility Systems, and his/her expected level ofparticipation. Submit documentation of annualupdates.
IV Certificationrequired. Good IV skills are highlydesired.
Able to prioritize andorganize workload to meet needs of patients and unit. Observebehavioral and physiologic changes due to medications, takeappropriate actions anddocument.
Maintain awareness ofthe status of assigned patients. Collect and document dataappropriate to the nature and severity of the illness. Communicateappropriate data to the RN, Physician and other patient care teammembers.
Interpret and implementphysician s orders; perform treatments according to acceptedstandards and policies; evaluate and document effectiveness oftreatments.
Apply the principlesof growth and development of the life span and assess, interpret,and provide the care/service with data reflective to each patientsage specific needs.
Anticipatepotential patient problems and take the necessary precautions tominimize those problems to ensure patientsafety.
Identify and report unsafepractice and/or procedures.
Ensurethat supplies and equipment are available for patientcare.
Interact professionally andcommunicate courteously and clearly with physicians, patients,families, visitors, members of the public andco-workers.

POSITIONDESCRIPTION: The LVN/LPN/LPN functions under thedirection of the Registered Nurse and Medical Director. The LVN/LPNprovides patient care within a defined scope of practice thatincluded patient care and observation, specified treatments andprocedures; provision of environmental and personal safety;effective communication. The LVN/LPN will also be responsible tocollect pertinent data within their certification scope ofresponsibilities and report the clinical, psychosocial, etc.,findings to the RN andPhysician.

TREATMENTAND PROCEDURES:
  • Administerstreatments and various procedures (within their scope of practice)to patients as ordered by the physician and directed by theProfessional Nursing Staff.
  • Performsmonitor technician duties and responsibilities as needed.
  • Transportingof stablemedical/telemetry/unit patients; obtaining vital signs - frequencyspecific to patients condition; **Phlebotomy and specimen withproper labeling/transporting ofspecimens
  • Applying cardiac monitorwhere appropriate
  • Implementation ofcomfort and safety measures (i.e., side-rails up, call bell withinreach, stretchers in low position)
  • Communication and documentation oftasks and interventionsperformed
  • Stocking patient roomswith appropriate medical supplies
  • **performs 12-lead EKG; setup sterile trays for suturing/sterileprocedures; **insertion of Foley catheter when appropriate;insertion of IV s , documentation of intake and output; maintainand secure sterile or contaminated instruments to and from CentralSterile; collaborate with RN for repair ofequipment.


RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS
1.Must be currently registered with the state of Vocational Nursingand be certified to start IV s and administermedications
2. Current BLSCertification and ACLSpreferred
3. Previous experienceas an LVN/LPN in an acute general hospital/ASC isdesirable
