Summary

  • Managing all aspects of payrollprocessing to ensure accuracy andtimeliness.
  • Ensuring compliance with allapplicable state and federal wage and hourlaws.
  • Preparing and maintaining accuratepayroll records and employee files.
  • Satisfyingunion reporting requirements including pension, annuity, healthinsurance, and union dues reports.
  • Providingsupport to the finance department in the preparation of financialreports and audits.
  • Collaborating with the HRdepartment to ensure accurate and timely onboarding of newemployees.
  • Responding to employee inquiriesregarding payroll issues or concerns.
  • Keepingabreast of current payroll tax requirements and relevant lawsassociated with the processing of employee wage data, includingpayroll taxes, employee federal and state income and socialsecurity taxes, and other requiredreporting.
  • Participating in continuousimprovement initiatives to enhance the efficiency and accuracy ofpayroll operations.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's degree inAccounting or a related field.
  • 1+ year ofexperience as a Payroll Coordinator or in a similarrole.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll systems andprocedures, and federal and state laws related to payroll andtaxes.
  • Demonstrated experience with anautomated time and attendance system, and processing payrollpreferred.
  • Strong organizational and timemanagement skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and work totight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication andinterpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively withstaff at all levels.
  • Proficiency in MicrosoftOffice Suite, particularly Excel, and experience with payrollsoftware.
  • A proactive approach toproblem-solving, with the ability to anticipate and resolve issuesbefore they escalate.
