Job Purpose:

To evaluate the suitability of all existing and potential food suppliers in terms of food safety and hygiene standards and therefore ensure the safety of food product supplied to EKFC.

Key Result Areas:

Support the development, implementation, and review of the BRCGS-compliant on a regular basis.

Ensure procedures, work instructions, and records meet BRCGS requirements.

Assist in preparing for BRCGS audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.

Maintain document control and version management across the food safety system

Conduct internal audits (GMP, hygiene, glass & plastics, allergen controls, etc.).

Track corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to closure.

Verify production and hygiene teams follow food safety and quality procedures.

Assist with root-cause analysis for non-conformances, complaints, and incidents.

Support supplier approval, risk assessments, and raw material specifications.

Review supplier documentation (COAs, audit reports, specifications).

Job Context:

The Food Safety Specialist is responsible for maintaining an effective food supplier evaluation system for EKFC to ensure the safety of all purchased foods. This involves physical inspection and assessment of local suppliers and system audits (paper audit assessments) of overseas suppliers. The job holder will assess food suppliers against best practice in terms of food safety. The job holder is also responsible for dealing with all physical, chemical and microbiological issues or any other matter that may arise with any suppliers* food product.

Knowledge, Skills & Minimum Experience:

Education Qualifications

Essential (Must Have):

Hands on Experience on BRCGS standards and HACCP principles

GCE A-Level with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or

Diploma in Food Safety, Environmental Health, Public Health, or a related field.

Preferred:

Bachelor*s degree in environmental health, Food Safety, Food Science, Public Health, or an equivalent discipline.

Work Experience

Minimum of 5 years professional experience in food safety, food inspection, hygiene compliance, quality assurance, or related areas.

Experience in food safety management systems, regulatory compliance, HACCP implementation, and/or inspection activities is highly desirable.

Skills & Competencies

Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to prepare clear reports and communicate technical information effectively.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage with stakeholders at all levels.

Self-motivated, independent, and able to work with minimal supervision.

Strong understanding of food safety standards, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements.

Ability to work methodically, with high attention to detail and strong analytical judgement.
