Roles and responsibilities
  • Greet and seat customers, providing a warm and welcoming atmosphere while ensuring prompt service.
  • Present menus, answer questions, and make recommendations, showcasing a thorough knowledge of the menu items, including wine pairings and specialties.
  • Take orders accurately, relaying them to the kitchen staff and ensuring special requests or dietary restrictions are accommodated.
  • Serve food and beverages with elegance and finesse, demonstrating a keen attention to detail and adhering to the restaurant's standards for presentation and hygiene.
  • Monitor tables throughout the dining experience, anticipating customers' needs and promptly addressing any concerns or additional requests.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in the dining area, including clearing tables and resetting them for new customers, as well as assisting with general restaurant upkeep as needed.

What You Will Bring

  • One to two years' experience working in Food & Beverage preferred.
  • Knowledge of French and Mediterranean cuisine, alcoholic beverages and wines.
  • Excellent customer service skills with great enthusiasm, superior interpersonal skills, result oriented and highly self-motivated.
  • Professional, service oriented, eager to help coworkers, adoptable with changes.
  • High attention to detail, strong organization skills, result orientation and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of food allergens.
  • Knowledge of MICROS preferred.

1. Customer Service Skills

  • Greeting Guests: Welcoming guests warmly and guiding them to their tables with a friendly attitude.
  • Attentive Service: Ensuring guests feel valued by checking on them regularly throughout their meal and anticipating needs (e.g., refilling drinks, offering additional items).
  • Problem-Solving: Addressing guest complaints or concerns in a professional and calm manner, ensuring a positive resolution.

2. Order Taking and Accuracy

  • Taking Orders: Accurately taking food and drink orders from guests, including special requests or dietary restrictions.
  • Relaying Orders to the Kitchen: Communicating orders clearly and accurately to the kitchen or bar staff to ensure timely and correct preparation.
  • Confirming Orders: Repeating orders back to guests to confirm accuracy and ensuring modifications or preferences are captured correctly.

3. Menu Knowledge

  • Understanding the Menu: Knowing the full menu, including appetizers, entrees, desserts, beverages, and daily specials, to make suggestions and answer guest questions.
  • Dietary Restrictions: Being familiar with food allergies and dietary restrictions, and helping guests choose safe menu options.
  • Food and Beverage Pairing: Offering recommendations for food and drink pairings, enhancing the overall guest experience.

4. Food and Beverage Service

  • Serving Food and Drinks: Delivering food and beverages to the correct table in an organized and timely manner, ensuring that all items are presented according to restaurant standards.
  • Upselling: Suggesting additional items like appetizers, desserts, or drinks to enhance the guest's dining experience and increase sales.
  • Proper Presentation: Ensuring food is served with attention to detail, including garnishes, proper plate arrangement, and cleanliness.

5. Multitasking and Time Management

  • Handling Multiple Tables: Managing several tables at once, ensuring all guests are attended to promptly without neglecting anyone.
  • Prioritizing Tasks: Balancing taking orders, delivering food, refilling drinks, and clearing tables during busy periods, all while maintaining high-quality service.

6. Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Working with the Team: Collaborating with other servers, kitchen staff, and managers to ensure smooth service.
  • Assisting Colleagues: Helping colleagues during peak times, whether it's running food, clearing tables, or supporting them with guest requests.

7. Communication Skills

  • Clear Communication: Communicating effectively with guests, kitchen staff, and other team members to ensure everything runs smoothly.
  • Listening Skills: Paying close attention to guest requests or feedback to ensure their satisfaction.
  • Handling Guest Requests: Being responsive to guest needs and providing accurate information or assistance.
