A day in thelife

As a Loss Prevention Specialist, you willjoin a team of Security and Loss Prevention professionals providingsecurity as a service to business customers across multiplebusiness units within a dedicated geographical area. You performregular physical security audits and investigate policy violations,security-related incidents, and loss events. During yourinvestigations, you collect information by monitoring systems andtools, analysing data reports, and conducting interviews. Yourfindings help to identify vulnerabilities in our processes, forwhich you contribute to the development of mitigating measures. Youplay a key role in maintaining the physical integrity of our sitesby auditing and monitoring the health status of our systems and,jointly with subject matter experts and external suppliers,maintain their functionality. You interact on a daily basis withour external security service providers to ensure delivery ofhigh-quality security services and a smooth customer experience.You also act as point of contact for multiple internal and externaldepartments (e.g., legal, HR, security service providers, local lawenforcement) and subject matter expert in Security and LossPrevention-related matters. Finally, you deliver lossprevention-related education and awareness programs to other teamsand liaise with various stakeholders on policy and procedure acrossall management levels.

  • Surveillance andMonitoring:

    • Continuouslymonitor security systems, including CCTV and alarm systems, todetect suspicious behavior or potentialtheft.
    • Perform regular audits of inventory andsales to identify discrepancies that may indicate theft orfraud.

  • IncidentInvestigation:

    • Investigatecases of theft, fraud, or internal misconduct by reviewing securityfootage, conducting interviews, and gatheringevidence.
    • Prepare detailed reports ofinvestigations, including findings and recommendations forcorrective action or legalproceedings.

  • EmployeeTraining:

    • Trainemployees on loss prevention techniques, security protocols, andidentifying suspicious activities.
    • Promoteawareness of theft prevention policies and ensure staff arefamiliar with securityprocedures.

  • AssetProtection:

    • Develop andimplement security measures to protect company assets, includingphysical barriers, alarm systems, and secure storageprocedures.
    • Regularly assess and improvephysical security measures, such as locked doors, safes, andrestricted accessareas.

  • InventoryControl:

    • Conductregular inventory checks to ensure accuracy and identify anydiscrepancies that may point to theft ordamage.
    • Work with inventory management teams toensure that stock is properly handled, stored, andrecorded.

  • LossPrevention Policies andProcedures:

    • Create andimplement loss prevention policies and procedures to reduce therisk of theft or fraud.
    • Continuously review andupdate procedures based on emerging risks or changes in thebusinessenvironment.

  • Collaborationwith LawEnforcement:

    • Workclosely with local law enforcement when necessary to investigatecriminal activities, file police reports, and recover stolengoods.
    • Coordinate with external agencies tohandle major theft incidents or criminalactivities.

  • ReportingandDocumentation:

    • Maintaindetailed records of theft incidents, investigations, and preventivemeasures taken.
    • Provide regular reports tomanagement about loss prevention activities, trends, andrecommendations forimprovements.

  • LossPreventionAudits:

    • Perform regularaudits of cash handling, inventory management, and otheroperational areas to identify vulnerabilities or areas where lossesmay occur.
    • Assess store policies, procedures,and staff compliance to identify potential areas forimprovement.
