About the job

The Commercial and Business Development Manager will develop opportunities to meet commercial and business plans and improve the competitive position of KOTUG including strategic direction and objectives. He/ she will lead the commercialization of the (regional) fleet, negotiating long-term charters and optimizing vessel utilization. Will expand and develop the activities of the KOTUG Subsea division, fostering growth and innovation. Moreover, build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, partners and authorities.

Your key responsibilities are:

Health, Safety, Environment & Quality assurance (HSEQ):
  • Stay actively informed on HSEQ manuals, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure safe and compliant execution of activities for both internal teams and contractors.
  • Integrate HSEQ principles into policies and daily operations, implementing corrective measures as needed.
Business & Marketing Intelligence:
  • Identify market trends, opportunities, and risks to drive business growth.
  • Explore potential new markets and assess implementation strategies.
  • Monitor competitors, clients, and industry developments by region and market segment.
  • Maintain and utilize a centralized commercial market database.
  • Integrate market intelligence into strategic decision-making.
  • Identify and develop synergies and partnerships with other companies.
  • Engage with clients regularly to understand their evolving needs and expectations.
KOTUG Strategy:
  • Support and contribute to the execution of KOTUG's strategic initiatives.
  • Track and follow up on bids and tenders, providing insights and recommendations to management.
Business Lines:
  • Assist in the development and expansion of independent business lines.
  • Ensure timely collection of customer payments.
  • Facilitate contract deployment across relevant departments upon award.
  • Monitor vessel performance to ensure alignment with expectations and contractual commitments.
  • Proactively take initiative to drive improvements and cost efficiencies.
Strategic Business Development:
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, and Joint Venture stakeholders.
  • Position KOTUG effectively within the market through targeted marketing and promotional efforts.
  • Ensure strategic and well-executed marketing activities to enhance brand visibility.
Tenders & Proposals:
  • Prepare and submit tenders, ensuring alignment with client needs and company capabilities.
  • Manage prequalification processes with existing and potential customers.
  • Oversee contract qualification processes and risk assessments.
  • Lead the preparation and execution of proposal and tender processes, including project strategy, scope, budget, schedule, and contract negotiations.
  • Support and/or lead client and stakeholder negotiations.
  • Ensure compliance of original Charter Party agreements with negotiated terms and conditions.
Projects:
  • Oversee project development, including business case analysis and feasibility studies.
  • Secure board approval and ensure timely involvement of project teams.
  • Facilitate seamless handover to operations upon project completion.
Partnerships:
  • Support existing and potential future partnerships.
  • Develop and implement best practices for partnership management.
Personnel Management:
  • Foster a proactive, results-driven and motivating work environment.
  • Guide, train, and mentor staff, ensuring professional growth and team engagement.
Financial Management:
  • Analyze and monitor business performance and budgets, taking corrective action when necessary.
  • Develop financial projections to support business cases and strategic planning.
Reporting:
  • Prepare and submit periodical progress reports and ensure data are correct.
  • Forecast sales targets and track and record activity on accounts.

Who are we looking for?

  • Bachelor level with background in maritime industry.
  • Proven track record in Business Development and Commercial activities.
  • Knowledge of the offshore support vessel market and charter parties.
  • Good knowledge of Vessel operations.
  • 5-10 years proven experience in a senior commercial role within the offshore sector.
