  • Leadmanage and develop a team of veterinarians vet technicians andsupport staff.
  • Provide training andsupport to the veterinary team to ensure high standards of care andprofessionalism.
  • Manage staffschedules and ensure adequate coverage for all shifts particularlyin emergency situations.
  • Foster acollaborative and positive working environment for theteam.

  • Ensurethe highest standards of animal welfare are maintained inaccordance with local and internationalguidelines.
  • Collaborate with animalcare teams and wildlife conservation programs to support the healthand conservation of animal species in thepark.
  • Oversee the management of anyanimal medical emergencies and collaborate with other departmentsto ensure that animals are treated promptly andappropriately.

  • Managethe budget for the veterinary practice including suppliesmedications equipment and staffresources.
  • Monitor and trackexpenses to ensure the practice stays within budget whilemaintaining high standards ofcare.
  • Order and maintain inventoryof veterinary supplies and equipment in an efficient andcosteffectivemanner.

  • Ensurecompliance with all local regulations and health and safetystandards for veterinarypractices.
  • Maintain emergencyprocedures and ensure that the veterinary practice is equipped tohandle emergencies including medical crises and animalaccidents.
  • Ensure that alldocumentation and permits related to animal care are uptodate andin compliance with legalrequirements.

  • Workclosely with senior management and other departments (e.g. animalcare education and guest services) to ensure seamless operationsand coordination of animal healthservices.
  • Provide regular reports onanimal health trends veterinary treatments and the overallperformance of the veterinary practice to seniormanagement.
  • Assist in thedevelopment and implementation of policies and procedures relatedto animal care and medicaltreatment.

  • Occasionallycontribute to educational and outreach programs to raise awarenessabout animal health conservation and veterinarypractices.
  • Participate in thedevelopment of educational content for guests and visitors relatedto the veterinary care of the zoo sanimals.
Requirements QualificationsandSkills:

  • Education:

    • Degreein Veterinary Medicine (DVM orequivalent).
    • Additionalqualifications in business management administration or relatedfields are aplus.

  • Experience:

    • Minimumof 5 years experience in veterinary practicewith at least 2 years in a managerial orsupervisory role.
    • Experience workingin a zoo wildlife or animal care environment is highlydesirable.

  • Skills:

    • Strongleadership and people managementskills.
    • Excellent communication andinterpersonal skills to work effectively with a wide range ofpeople including veterinary staff animal care teams andvisitors.
    • Strong problemsolving anddecisionmaking abilities.
    • Proficientin veterinary management software and standard office applications(Excel Word etc.).
    • Knowledge ofhealth and safety regulations in veterinarypractice.

  • PersonalQualities:

    • Passionfor animal welfare andconservation.
    • Ability to remain calmand professional in emergencysituations.
    • Attention to detail andstrong organizational skills.
    • Strongwork ethic and the ability to multitask effectively in a fastpacedenvironment.
