Roles and responsibilities

We are looking for a highly skilledPrincipal ICT Engineer to leadmulti-disciplinary infrastructure projects for clients across theGCC. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise inplanning, designing, and engineering ICT and field communicationinfrastructure, with a strong emphasis on delivering innovative,cost-efficient, and regulation-compliantsolutions.

This role requires substantialexperience in ICT civil infrastructure and site-wide connectivitydesign, along with a deep understanding of GPON,FTTH, OSP , and ICT capacityplanning for large-scaleprojects.

KeyResponsibilities :

TechnicalDesign:

  • Lead thedevelopment of active and passive telecommunication networks, OSP,and ICT technology backbones
  • Preparecomprehensive design documentation and schematics, includingConcept, Detailed Design, and Tenderdocuments
  • Develop cost-effective and scalablenetwork infrastructures using hybrid topologies (e.g., PON,P2P)
  • Coordinate with Civil Infra, landscape andutilities teams for civil works of ICT containment, poles and ductworks of ICT and Security systems
  • Strong designbackground ICT systems, including data centers, IT systems, andcontrol rooms
  • Oversee end-to-end ICT and smarttechnology project delivery, including scope definition, design,and implementation
  • Engage with clients,vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to gather requirements anddeliver tailored solutions
  • Facilitatecoordination with authorities to secure necessary approvals andensure regulatory compliance
  • Mentor and guidecross-functional teams, ensuring efficient workflow and adherenceto project goals
  • Provide technical oversightand support to junior engineers anddesigners

Key Skills :

  • Deep understanding of GPON, FTTH,OSP, and ICT capacity planning for large-scaleprojects
  • Engineering design consultancyexperience is highly preferable
  • Extensiveknowledge of UAE/GCC telecom, ICT and security codes andregulations
  • Proven experience inmulti-disciplinary project management and ICT systemsintegration
  • Strong communication andreport-writing skills, with proficiency in English (Arabic is aplus)

Qualifications

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree incomputer system engineering or related discipline from anaccredited institution.
  • 12–15 yearsof experience in ICT design andengineering
  • Certification in PMP or CCNA, CCNP,BICSI RCDD, DCDC, or Uptime Accredited Tier Designer/Professional(Preferred).
  • Proven track record in managingcomplex, multidisciplinaryprojects.

. In-Depth TechnicalExpertise

  • SystemsArchitecture: Expertise in designing and overseeingcomplex ICT system architectures that integrate hardware, software,networking, and storage. Ability to design scalable, robust, andsecure systems that meet businessneeds.
  • NetworkingTechnologies: Strong understanding of networkprotocols, systems, and configurations (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP/S,VLANs, VPNs, MPLS, SD-WAN). Familiar with both LAN and WAN systemsand how they interconnect.
  • CloudComputing: Proficiency in cloud technologies (AWS,Azure, Google Cloud), including cloud migration, infrastructure asa service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), and Software as aService (SaaS). Ability to design and manage cloud-basedinfrastructure.
  • Virtualization: Knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V,or KVM, and how to optimize infrastructure using virtual machinesand containers (e.g., Docker,Kubernetes).
  • OperatingSystems: Expertise in a variety of operatingsystems, including Linux, Windows Server, and Unix-based systems,as well as understanding their configuration and maintenance withinenterprise environments.
  • DatabaseSystems: Strong experience with databases, includingrelational databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL) and NoSQL databases(e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra). Proficient in database design,optimization, andadministration.
  • Security& Compliance: Deep knowledge ofcybersecurity principles, including firewalls, intrusiondetection/prevention systems, encryption, and secure networkingpractices. Understanding of compliance frameworks such as GDPR,HIPAA, and PCI-DSS.

2.Leadership and StrategicOversight

  • TeamLeadership: Leading and mentoring a team ofengineers and ICT specialists, ensuring they have the necessaryresources, guidance, and development opportunities. Helping teammembers solve technical challenges and improve theirskills.
  • ProjectManagement: Overseeing ICT projects, from planningto execution. Ability to manage project timelines, resources, andbudgets while ensuring the delivery of high-qualitysolutions.
  • StakeholderEngagement: Communicating complex technical conceptsto non-technical stakeholders, including executive leadership,business units, and clients. Ability to align ICT strategy withbusiness goals.
  • RiskManagement: Identifying risks within ICT systems,including data breaches, system downtimes, and complianceviolations, and developing strategies to mitigate theserisks.

3. ICT StrategyandInnovation

  • StrategicPlanning: Contributing to the development oflong-term ICT strategies and ensuring the alignment of ICTinfrastructure with organizational goals. Proposing technologicalinnovations and improvements to enhance businessoperations.
  • EmergingTechnologies: Keeping up to date with emergingtechnologies (e.g., 5G, AI/ML, blockchain, IoT) and evaluatingtheir potential impact on the organization's ICTinfrastructure. Leading the adoption of these technologies whenappropriate.
  • CostOptimization: Identifying cost-effective solutionsthat do not compromise the performance or security of ICT systems.Streamlining processes to reduce unnecessary expenditures onhardware, software, or services.

4.Systems Integration andTroubleshooting

  • IntegrationExpertise: Expertise in integrating complex systemsand ensuring smooth interoperability between different platforms,software, andhardware.
  • PerformanceOptimization: Identifying areas where systems can beoptimized for better performance, scalability, and efficiency.Implementing solutions for load balancing, high availability, andfault tolerance.
  • Troubleshooting& Incident Management: Leading efforts todiagnose and resolve critical system failures, network outages, andsecurity incidents. Implementing robust incident response plans andensuring timely resolution.
