  • Manage day to daydecisions regarding the input, movement, process, and output ofoperations to ensure

increased quality, inventoryaccuracy and service

  • Monitor daily, weekly, and monthlymetrics for assigned departments; identify and resolve operatingissues as

needed,including oversight of corrective actions and progressivediscipline process

  • Provideclear and frequent communication to all teams regarding departmentproductivity, Company policies and

procedures

  • Maintain adequate staffing levels forassigned departments to ensure operating metrics are metconsistently; may

includethe coordination of shift change bids and relatedprograms

  • Interact withemployees regularly to promote a high level of engagement andensure all safety regulations / rules

are followed

  • Lead weekly and monthly managermeetings to share information including metrics review, areasof

improvement, employeerelations issues, and updates on quarterly initiatives and relatedprojects

  • Identify anddelegate quarterly initiatives to team members; promote and monitorprogress to ensure quarterly

goals are met

  • Maintain a high level of operatingknowledge and positive employee relations by working at minimum oneday

KeyResponsibilities of an Assistant ShippingManager:

  1. SupervisingShippingOperations

    • DailyShipping Coordination : Assisting in organizing andoverseeing the daily shipment of products, ensuring that all ordersare processed accurately and dispatched in a timelymanner.
    • ManagingStaff : Overseeing the work of shipping clerks,warehouse staff, and drivers, ensuring they adhere to establishedprocedures and meet productivitygoals.
    • Ensuring TimelyDeliveries : Monitoring the shipping schedule toensure orders are delivered on time, and tracking any delays tomitigate disruptions in the supplychain.

  2. InventoryManagement

    • ManagingStock Levels : Coordinating with warehouse personnelto track inventory levels and ensuring that products are ready forshipment. Ensuring that stock is well-organized and easilyaccessible for efficient orderfulfillment.
    • ShippingDocumentation : Ensuring that shipping documents,such as bills of lading, packing lists, and customs forms, arecompleted accurately and accompany allshipments.

  3. LogisticsandTransportation

    • CarrierCoordination : Assisting in managing relationshipswith third-party carriers, such as shipping companies and freightforwarders. Ensuring that shipping costs are minimized whilemaintaining the required deliverystandards.
    • RouteOptimization : Helping to plan and optimize deliveryroutes to ensure cost-effectiveness and timely deliveries. Workingwith logistics teams to solve any transportationchallenges.

  4. CustomerService

    • OrderTracking : Providing customers with trackinginformation and responding to inquiries regarding shipment status.Resolving any issues or discrepancies related to shipping anddelivery.
    • Handling ShippingDiscrepancies : Addressing issues related to damaged,lost, or incorrect shipments. Working with the warehouse andcustomer service teams to resolve problemspromptly.

  5. ComplianceandSafety

    • EnsuringCompliance : Ensuring that all shipments comply withlegal and regulatory requirements, including customs regulations,safety standards, and international shippinglaws.
    • Health andSafety : Ensuring that the shipping area ismaintained in a safe condition, adhering to workplace safetyregulations and company guidelines. Promoting safe handlingpractices for goods andequipment.

  6. ReportingandDocumentation

    • MaintainingShipping Records : Keeping detailed records of allshipments, including shipping dates, contents, and any relateddocumentation, for compliance and referencepurposes.
    • Reporting to SeniorManagement : Assisting in generating reports onshipping activities, including on-time delivery rates, shippingcosts, and any issues encountered. Helping to track performancemetrics and making recommendations forimprovement.

  7. Problem-Solving

    • AddressingDelays : Quickly identifying and resolving issuesthat may cause delays in shipping or affect delivery schedules.This may include problems with suppliers, inventory discrepancies,or carrier delays.
    • OptimizingProcesses : Continuously looking for ways to improveshipping operations, reduce costs, and increase efficiency withinthedepartment.
