Summary of Position

The Senior Construction Civil Estimator is responsible for providing estimates and preconstruction cost services support for the company projects to secure profitable work.

Developing relationships with Owners, architects, and developers is paramount. Business development requirements include researching leads, meeting with potential clients, attending networking events, actively engaging in industry/trade associations, and performing at a level that produces repeat work.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Upload and download project documents to prepare for Estimating.
  2. Perform detailed quantity take-offs and application of unit pricing to determine project budgets for all scopes contained in the Contract Documents.
  3. Prepare scope and price analysis, depending on the project requirements and contract type.
  4. Ability to handle full tender proposals including all aspects of the BOQ (Prelims).
  5. Write scope clarification letters and set up Sub-Sheets.
  6. Establish relationships with key subcontractors.
  7. Select Subcontractors and Material Suppliers to either secure bids from or assist with our pricing activities.
  8. Prepares and maintains bid documentation in the office and online for subcontractors.
  9. Prepares subcontractor Contract Packages / Scopes of Work.
  10. Ensures bid scope coverage from subcontractors on bid day by making solicitations via Portals and phone calls.
  11. Submit bids and budgets to the client by the deadline.
  12. Prepares bid analysis and scoping of all subcontractor bids as they are received.
  13. Help the team strategize on the selection of subcontractors based on the size/scope of the project.
  14. Ensures that subcontractors are aware of (and commit to) the project schedule.
  15. Seek and prequalify new subcontractors to add to the company's database.
  16. Attend project meetings with architects, engineers, and the client regularly. Prepare meeting agendas & notes as needed.
  17. Provide support to the Cost Consulting team and Clients as needed.
  18. Study the construction, real estate markets, and direct competitors.
  19. Prepare for project interviews by rehearsing and performing advanced research.

Education:

  1. Requires a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, Construction, Architecture, or related field. Additional coursework in drafting and estimating is preferred.
  2. This position requires a minimum of 10+ years as a Commercial Construction Estimator or similar construction experience.

Skills, Abilities, and Qualifications:

  1. Excellent interpersonal communication skills, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  2. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and BIM.
  3. Self-starter with strong multi-tasking and follow-up skills.
  4. Good judgment, logic, and ability to learn new things quickly.
  5. Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret plans and specifications.
  6. Must be able to perform takeoffs and price according to other requirements.
  7. A valid driver's license.
  8. Ability to join immediately.
