Academic Guidance Specialist

GEMS Education is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Academic Guidance Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing academic, personal, and social guidance to students, ensuring their holistic development and success.
Key Responsibilities:- Establish and Implement Guidance Programs: Develop and implement procedures and timeframes to provide students with academic, personal, social, emotional, and psychological counseling.
- Support Student Transition: Work with new students to ensure a smooth adjustment to the school, providing guidance on admission to higher education institutions.
- Higher Education Support: Organize and process recommendations for students to higher education institutions, provide assistance with application procedures, and offer opportunities for students to take tests for admission.
- College and University Liaison: Maintain and update a list of colleges and universities that have accepted students from the school, and liaise with the Librarian to provide and update careers and college material.
- Career Development: In conjunction with the senior management team, organize and coordinate careers sessions with representatives from a range of professions.
- Alumni Record Management: Establish, maintain, and update a record of Alumni, and establish procedures for securing external assistance for students with personal problems and emotional needs.
- Student Progress Monitoring: Maintain student records on progress, achievements, activities, and interests, and establish proactive guidelines and procedures to deal with bullying.
- Testing and Evaluation: Establish and administer appropriate testing programs to evaluate student aptitude and achievement, and establish systems to notify parents promptly about problems in class, with school work, or behavioral issues.
- Policy and Procedure Compliance: Ensure the GEMS policies, procedures, and codes of conduct are followed at all times, and initiate effort and energy beyond the typical workday where tasks require additional commitment.
- Team Collaboration: Attend staff meetings and serve on committees as required, and perform other duties as requested by direct and dotted reporting line managers/supervisors.
