Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Library Professional to join our team at GEMS Education. As a key member of our library team, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and personal growth of our students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collection Development: Collaborate with Heads of Department to select and prepare annual library orders, including the selection and renewal of subscriptions for periodicals.
  • Cataloguing and Classification: Utilize the Dewey Decimal system to catalog and classify all books, ensuring accurate and efficient access to our collection.
  • Library Operations: Manage the storage, maintenance, and access to our audio-visual library, ensuring that all materials are readily available for students and staff.
  • Reader Services: Assist students in finding books that meet their reading level and interests, and provide guidance on the Dewey Decimal classification system.
  • Program Development: Develop reading lists for various age levels and create engaging programs to promote literacy and a love of reading among our students.
  • Volunteer Management: Identify opportunities for volunteer assistance and train volunteers on library procedures and processes.
  • Book Maintenance: Repair and withdraw old books, ensuring that our collection remains relevant and up-to-date.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and external partners.
