Job Title: Head of Development

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head of Development to join our team at MAJID AL FUTTAIM. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the development of our film slate, managing budgets, and overseeing the production process from inception to final draft.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Developing and Managing the Film Slate: Develop and manage the yearly film slate, ensuring that it aligns with the company's creative vision and strategy.
  • Budget Management: Sign off on estimated production budgets per project prior to greenlighting, and oversee the financial aspects of the development process.
  • Project Management: Oversee and supervise VOX Studios films throughout inception to final draft, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Team Management: Lead a team of development producers and manage the day-to-day operation, ensuring that the team is working efficiently and effectively.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with the writer, director, and other key members of the creative team to ensure that each project meets the company's creative vision and strategy.
  • Pitching and Content Development: Assist in identifying new projects, talents, and review and feedback on incoming pitch materials, participate in pitch meetings and content discussions.
  • Process Development: Contribute to the development of relevant internal processes and templates, and prepare relevant documentation for the internal process for greenlighting film projects.
  • Decision Making: Be part of all key decisions connected to the project, ensuring that the company's interests are represented.
  • Commissioning and Legal: Ensure that commissioning requirements are fully understood, and develop viable proposals, collaborating with legal counsel on all aspects of the project.
  • Financial Management: Responsible for updating and collaborating with Finance on all relevant financial aspects related to the development slate, including tracking, cost reports, and payment schedules.
  • Risk Management: Ensure that best practice principles and protocols are implemented and adhered to, and that physical production and editorial aspirations are aligned.
  • Capacity Planning: Plan and manage capacity (resources and people) in line with strategic objectives and commissions.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor and report on performance against objectives and key performance indicators.

Requirements: The successful candidate will have a strong background in film development, with experience in managing budgets, leading teams, and collaborating with creative teams. They will also have excellent communication and project management skills, and be able to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
