Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join our team at Standard Chartered. As a key member of our Employment Law team, you will play a critical role in providing expert advice on employment law matters across the AME region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide employment law advice on a range of contentious and non-contentious matters, including employee relations issues, redundancies, and termination of employment.
  • Advising on and managing employment disputes, including litigation and settlement strategies.
  • Develop and implement employment contracts and policies, ensuring compliance with domestic and international laws.
  • Collaborate with external counsel to manage employment law risks and ensure best value for the business.
  • Identify and mitigate employment legal risks, ensuring the Group's compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Support the Group's Fit for Growth project and other HR initiatives.
Requirements
  • Qualified to practice as a solicitor in a common law jurisdiction, preferably UK/Australia.
  • At least 5+ years of post-qualification experience in employment law, preferably in private practice or in-house.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply employment laws.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of domestic and international employment laws, including UAE, onshore, and DIFC regulations.
