About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Counsel to join our team at CHALHOUB Group. As a Senior Counsel, you will play a critical role in providing legal advice and support to our business units, ensuring that our operations are compliant with relevant laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Business Acumen: Develop a deep understanding of our business objectives and strategy, and communicate legal risks and issues to management.
  • Strategic Support: Collaborate with business units to achieve their goals by finding creative and effective solutions to legal problems, and implementing processes and tools to improve the efficiency and quality of our legal service.
  • Legal Counsel: Provide accurate and timely counsel to executives and other staff members on a variety of commercial and corporate legal topics.
  • Risk Management: Research and evaluate different risk factors regarding business decisions and operations, and apply effective risk management techniques to mitigate potential risks.
  • External Relations: Communicate and negotiate with external parties, including regulators, external counsel, and public authorities, to create relations of trust and ensure the company's interests are protected.
  • Contract Management: Draft and solidify agreements, contracts, and other legal documents to ensure the company's full legal rights are protected.
  • Complex Matters: Deal with complex matters involving multiple stakeholders and forces, and provide clarification on legal language or specifications to everyone in the organization.
  • Professional Conduct: Conduct your work with integrity and responsibility, and maintain current knowledge of alterations in legislation.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in law and a juris doctor degree.
  • License/Certification: License or certification to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Commercial Background: Strong commercial and retail background.
  • Experience: A minimum of five years of external or in-house legal experience.
  • Knowledge: Working knowledge of local, state, and federal laws and regulations that affect the business of the employer.
  • Skills: Proficient in MS Office and other software tools that facilitate legal work, outstanding written and verbal communication skills, ability to research, analyze, and evaluate legal issues and risks, ability to draft, review, and negotiate contracts and other legal documents, ability to provide accurate and timely legal advice and support to management and other staff members, ability to find creative and effective solutions to legal problems and challenges, and ability to work independently and collaboratively with a diverse team of internal and external stakeholders.
