About the Job

Aerotek is seeking a skilled Cabinet Maker to join our team. As a Cabinet Maker, you will be responsible for creating high-quality custom cabinets and furniture for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Selecting Materials and Tools: Choose the appropriate materials, fittings, and tools for each task to ensure efficient and effective work.
  • Cutting and Shaping: Cut resources down to size as needed and shape them to meet the required specifications.
  • Planning and Organization: Plan an effective approach to work to ensure that each project is completed on time and to the required standard.
  • Cabinet Assembly and Finishing: Gather the elements of each cabinet and assemble the final product, applying sealant, varnish, and paint as required.
  • Quality Control: Inspect each completed item to ensure accurate construction and necessary finishes.
  • Repair and Maintenance: Repair elements of cabinets that have been sent in for servicing.
  • Health and Safety: Wear the requisite uniform and take necessary precautions to remain safe while working.
  • Customer Service: Advise on appropriate care for finished products upon request.
Requirements
  • Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Training and Experience: Completion of a training program or apprenticeship will be advantageous. Prior experience as a Cabinet Maker, with a portfolio of completed works.
  • Skills: The ability to visualize spaces to create appropriate furniture, good arithmetic skills, excellent teamwork and customer service skills, attention to detail, and the ability to meet tight deadlines without sacrificing workmanship.
Technical Skills
  • AutoCAD: Proficiency in AutoCAD software for creating precise 2D and 3D drawings, including detailed cabinetry designs, layouts, and material specifications.
  • SketchUp: Familiarity with SketchUp software for creating, visualizing, and modifying custom cabinet designs.
  • CNC Operation: Familiarity with operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines for precise cutting, shaping, and carving of cabinet components.
  • Joinery Techniques: Knowledge of various joinery methods (e.g., dovetail joints, mortise and tenon) used to assemble cabinets.
  • Wood Finishing: Understanding of different wood finishes (stains, varnishes, paints) and their application to achieve desired aesthetics and protection.
  • Laminate Application: Ability to apply laminate (e.g., Formica) to cabinet surfaces.
  • Veneering: Knowledge of veneer application techniques for decorative surfaces.
  • Cabinet Vision: Familiarity with specialized software like Cabinet Vision for designing and visualizing cabinetry projects.
  • Safety Compliance: Adherence to safety protocols when using tools and machinery in the workshop.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret architectural and technical drawings.
  • Festool Systems: Familiarity with Festool power tools and systems commonly used in woodworking.
  • Edge Banding: Understanding of how to apply edge banding to cabinet edges for a clean finish.
