Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Pre-Award Processes: Design and implement efficient processes for reviewing and submitting grant and contract proposals to funding agencies, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Identify and Resolve Workflow Issues: Analyze pre-award workflows, identify areas for improvement, and provide recommendations to leadership for resolution, working closely with relevant offices to implement solutions.
- Collaborate with Institutional Offices: Work with other institutional offices to develop and maintain resources and programs that support researchers in developing and writing high-quality grant proposals.
- Review and Approve Proposals: Assist in reviewing proposed cost-share commitments, Facilities and Administrative (F&A) waivers, and other requests, making recommendations for approval or non-approval.
- Develop Performance Metrics: Establish and maintain performance metrics for pre-award activities, tracking key indicators and providing insights to leadership.
- Track and Analyze Proposal Data: Collect and share proposal data with leadership and the Vice President of Research Operations, providing valuable insights to inform strategic decisions.
- Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as a subject matter expert on complex applications and sponsor regulations, providing guidance and technical expertise to researchers and staff.
- Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to Research Administrators and Principal Investigators on complex pre-award and contractual sponsored project compliance matters, including budgeting, cost allowability, and personnel eligibility.
- Pre-Award Lead and Signature Official: Serve as the pre-award lead and Signature Official for institutional, cross-department applications, ensuring that institutional objectives are clearly communicated and incorporated into proposals and budgets.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with the Chief Academic Officer's office to manage the process for notification, review, and submission of limited submission grants and internal institutional grant opportunities.
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with the RAPIT Director in preparing templates and resource documents to assist Research Administration teams and Principal Investigators with various components of grant and contract proposals.
- Backup Review and Execution: Serve as a backup in the review of outgoing grant and contract proposals for institutional approval prior to submission to funding agencies, and execute institutional certification and assurances documents as needed.
- Leadership and Management: Has the authority to direct and support employees' daily work activities, and has the direct responsibility to undertake employment activities such as hiring, termination, corrective action, and performance reviews, with direct reports of 2-3 employees.
