Job Purpose:
The Design Engineer plays a crucial role in the development and validation of design modifications and repair strategies for large aircraft, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards as outlined in the Emirates Design Organization Handbook and associated procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
General Duties:
- Conduct design engineering tasks within the framework of Emirates Design Organization's approval as specified in the certification and handbook.
- Assess changes to type certificates and repairs initiated by the organization.
- Execute compliance inspections and oversee certification tests as necessary.
- Offer onsite assistance during the execution of modifications and repairs, creating and updating compliance checklists as needed.
- Support and provide expertise to fellow Technical Services Engineers involved in minor design alterations.
- Assist the Office of Airworthiness in preparing certification programs, updating the Design Organization Handbook, maintaining design data archives, and addressing any regulatory audits or compliance issues.
- Collaborate closely with external vendors, MROs, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to devise engineering solutions that meet and exceed expectations.
Specific Responsibilities for Structures:
- Evaluate change requests and formulate design solutions for modifications and repairs to both metallic and composite aircraft structures.
- Perform fatigue and damage tolerance assessments, producing necessary design and compliance documentation to demonstrate adherence to applicable type certification standards and environmental protection requirements.
- Be authorized to function as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) for Structures.
Specific Responsibilities for Cabin Interiors:
- Analyze change requests and carry out system and cabin safety assessments for proposed modifications, creating design solutions for aircraft cabin interiors.
- Generate design and compliance documentation required to demonstrate conformity with applicable type certification standards and environmental protection requirements.
- Be authorized to serve as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) for Cabin Interiors.
Specific Responsibilities for Electrical and Avionics Systems:
- Review change requests and develop design solutions for modifications and repairs related to aircraft electrical and avionics systems.
- Create design and compliance documentation necessary to demonstrate compliance with applicable type certification standards and environmental protection requirements.
- Be authorized to act as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) for Electrical and Avionics systems.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Educational Background: A degree or equivalent in Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years in engineering, with at least 8 years in the aerospace sector, including 5 years in an EASA Part 21 or GCAA CAR 21 Design Organization, preferably with Major change/STC approval.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Preferred experience with Emirates fleet types.
- Experience as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) is advantageous.
- In-depth knowledge of EASA Part 21J and GCAA CAR 21 regulatory requirements.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize technical information for effective implementation.
- Proven capability in managing complex tasks and making decisions in a dynamic environment.
Specific to Electrical and Avionics Systems:
- Degree in Aeronautical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
- Knowledge or training in fundamental avionics standards and system safety assessments.
