Hello Chef, a rapidly growing e-commerce meal kit company based in Dubai and recently certified B Corp, is seeking a dynamic and hands-on Procurement Manager to drive our continued success. You will be a key member of our cross-functional supply chain team being the link between the food product team and the operations team. You would however also be required to take initiative in identifying, rationalising, and executing on tactical initiatives that positively influence the greater Hello Chef business including our operating systems and ERP.

You will focus on redefining and scaling our procurement function, helping to translate supply-market value into product value for our end customers. Although we seek your experience, we also believe Hello Chef is a great environment to learn.

**Mission**

The mission for this role is to establish strategic partnerships for key ingredient categories with a scorecard performance of >95%, whilst reducing category costs by 4 percentage points by December 2024.

**Key performance indicators would include**
- Supplier performance and contract compliance.
- Procurement cycle time and new ingredient adoption rate.
- Spend evaluation and cost savings.

**What you’ll do**
- Participate in developing and implementing practices and procurement strategies aligned with the overall business objectives, focusing on cost savings, quality improvement, supplier diversity, sustainability, and risk mitigation.
- Building and managing relationships with suppliers, evaluating their capabilities, conducting supplier performance assessments, and ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
- Identifying and selecting suppliers through comprehensive evaluation processes, conducting market research, negotiating contracts, and securing the best terms and conditions to optimise cost and quality.
- Driving cost savings initiatives, value engineering, and total cost of ownership (TCO) evaluation to maximise cost efficiencies and deliver value across the procurement function.
- Assessing and mitigating supply chain risks, developing contingency plans, and implementing robust supplier risk management strategies to ensure continuity of supply and minimise disruptions.
- Collaborating with suppliers to identify opportunities for innovation, process improvement, and product development, fostering mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Managing contracts, ensuring compliance, monitoring performance, and facilitating contract renewals or negotiations to maintain favourable supplier relationships and drive value.
- Ensuring procurement activities comply with legal and ethical standards, including regulatory requirements, sustainability practices, and responsible sourcing principles.
- Identify training requirements for all procurement employees and ensure adherence to the appropriate development plans including for succession purposes.
- Promoting a culture of continuous improvement within the procurement function, identifying opportunities for process optimization, implementing best practices, and leveraging technology to enhance procurement efficiency and effectiveness.

**What we’re looking for**
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce or similar relevant qualification.
- Highly analytical person with strong commercial acumen who is skilled in negotiation, supplier development and management.
- Minimum 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in procurement, including at least 3 years in a management role, ideally within the e-commerce or food industry.
- Strong experience in the end-to-end supply chain with a specific focus on forecasting and demand planning to ensure consistent on time delivery.
- Previous experience or knowledge of sourcing and importing products would be an advantage.
- Experience with new product development and/or sourcing of new products and bringing it to the market.
- Good understanding of the technical aspects of packaging, food quality and safety.
