Performs expediting activities at a project, in a support office, jobsite or supplier facility in accordance with Bechtel Expediting Procedures. Ensures the timely delivery of materials and equipment to meet project needs. May at times be responsible for supervision, direction and monitoring of Expediting Specialists. This position may require extensive travel.

A primary Expediting objective is to accelerate the progress of the Supplier's work in detail. If problems are anticipated or arise or the supplier has difficulty in meeting the agreed schedule, then the Expediter’s task is to investigate the cause(s) to help find solutions and initiate action(s) that will eliminate or minimize any schedule delay.

**JOB DIMENSIONS**:
**A. Supervision Received**
- A PEX role reports to and receives operational direction from the project Expediting Supervisor.
- An AEX role reports to and receives operational direction from the project DM, PEX and or Buyer.
- A Delivery Manager role reports to and receives operational direction from the assigned Project Management representative.
- All roles receive functional guidance from the Corporate Expediting Manager or designate.

**B. Supervision Exercised**

May at times provide work direction and supervision for Expediting Specialists

**C. Contacts**
- Coordinates expediting activities with project management, project procurement, engineering, construction, startup, planning and scheduling, project / area expediting, and others assigned to the project team.
- Maintains relationships with suppliers at all levels to monitor, manage and mitigate obstacles to the progress of material and equipment orders.
- Coordinates with all functions in support of achieving Project requirements.

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Ability to support extensive travel as required.
- As appropriate participates in the planning, staffing, and budgeting of project and area expediting operations. Monitors expenditure of project and area expediting job-hours and costs to ensure operations are within budget.
- May represent Expediting at project team meetings.
- Contacts suppliers to obtain timely submission of engineering data, and to follow-up on material acquisition, production progress and shipment.
- Evaluates production schedules and progress reports from suppliers to determine if their programs and work progress meet jobsite requirements. This evaluation includes verification and validation of a supplier’s capability and capacity to meet planned arrangements supporting the purchase order requirements.
- Compiles data needed to prepare the critical items reports or other supplementary reports as required by the project and or management.
- Coordinates with planning and scheduling, field material coordinators or jobsite project expediters and construction to establish priorities, sequences, and required delivery dates and advises suppliers accordingly.
- Expedites Bechtel engineering for the timely review, approval, and return of engineering and T&L data submitted by suppliers.
- Maintains a working file of expediting related documents and memoranda of conversations to record expediting activities. Maintains a system to initiate follow-up actions at appropriate times. Provides information for area expediting assignments for prime and suborders, as necessary.
- As appropriate takes corrective action on problems identified in project \ expediting reports.
- When required updates Bechtel Procurement System \ DSCS and Supplier Performance Database in a timely manner.
