Business Support Group Controller

About the role The Business Support Group Controller will work closely with the Executive team and will oversee the operations and business functions of the department. He/She will drive and track the progress of the programs, manage the communications with senior stakeholders, and ensure everyone is aligned with all the strategic initiatives. He/ She will review and implement improvements to the current processes and collaborate with department leaders in prioritizing business strategies. What you will do General Responsibilities: - Collate, and analyse business requirements/system enhancements to ensure the end result is as per the business requirement. Monitor new developments in the functional areas, assess relevance for the business, and advice business areas on the changes. Communicate these to the IT team. Escalate enhancements required to the relevant Business Project Managers for redressal at various forums. - Suggest, formulate, and document solutions to meet the individual department's needs, and ensure that proposed changes are in the overall interests of the business, and future strategy of the system. Consider the impact on the numerous linked systems, and ensure that these are allowed. Escalate, through an applicable business environment, functional issues, and conflicts, and make recommendations of potential solutions. Maintain a repository of documented business processes. - Control the testing, and sign-off of enhancements, patches, and new releases. Ensure end-user communities are informed in advance of changes, and new functionality introduced to allow for end-user education, and familiarisation prior to its release. - Provide expert advice, and guidance to users by answering functional queries, identifying areas of improvement through system monitoring of users, and suggesting best practices that offer potential cost or productivity savings. - Ensure that the BSG retains its role as the center of excellence by supporting ongoing training within the department. ERP Systems: - Co-ordination, updating, and maintenance of the business-critical master tables, and system configuration database of the ERP system. - Maintain all user-owned system documentation including the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). Identify changes required to the documentation as a result of new business requirements/system upgrades, agree, and document the new procedure with the affected departments. - Co-ordinate the implementation of system upgrades as delivered by Oracle for the ERP system, and related functions, and ensure that the EK Group's specific developments are working in conjunction with the upgrade. - Track problem reports raised by end-users, and give guidance for the resolutions. Interact with Oracle Support for filing, follow-up, and resolution of system bugs, and TARs (Technical Assistance Reports). Provide explanations whenever needed. Ensure that end-users are kept informed of the progress on the problem reports raised by them. Software Applications: - Co-ordinate the implementation of system upgrades as delivered, and related functions, and ensure that the specific developments and fault fixes of the user department concerned are working in conjunction with the upgrade. - Track problem reports raised by end-users and give guidance for the resolutions. Interact with MERCARE Support for filing, follow-up, and resolution of system bugs, and Change Requests. Provide explanations whenever needed. Ensure that end-users are kept informed of the progress on the problem reports raised by them. Marhaba Services: - Responsible for the implementation, support, administration, and optimal utilization of the various systems used by Marhaba. Facilitate business interests at the various systems work prioritization, and project working group meetings. Support MMS in finalizing Marhaba annual work plan, and IT enhancement budget, keeping slippage of deliverables, and budget variations to a minimum. - Research, and facilitate the identification, and feasibility study of various e-business opportunities, and establish their relevance to Marhaba Services’ business strategy - Contribute towards the development, and implementation of e-commerce technology, and e-initiatives within Marhaba services (B2B, and B2C), to ensure increased market share, revenue, improved customer service, and tangible cost savings.
