Job Title: Administrator - Legal Affairs
Department: Legal Affairs
Position Reports to: Chief Legal Officer & Group Legal Counselor
1. To provide legal support in handling legal affairs in order to ensure accuracy, compliance and practicality of legal documentation. a. Provide legal advice on terms and conditions b. Highlight areas of risk c. Provide advice to ensure legislative compliance and accuracy of agreements / contracts d. Measures - Legal compliance, Accuracy, Favorable terms
2. To actively support in coordinating litigation and / or arbitration commenced, filed against and / or by the company in order to resolve disputes a. To provide accurate legal advice on civil, criminal litigation, arbitration and to seek external advice where deemed appropriate b. Provide monthly updates on status of cases c. Supervise the progression of legal action d. Provide report on progress of litigation and / or arbitration related to immigration, labour disputes and other police cases public prosecution or police e. Provide legal advice on disputes f. Suitable legal remedy proposed g. Management informed of progression or developments of action
3. To provide general legal consultation and advisory work to the company in order to formulate and implement strategies for possible legal issues. a. Act as company representative in legal disputes where appropriate and attend courts wherever necessary b. Issue and / or renew demand notices c. Undertake correct interpretation of statutes. d. Advise possible legal implications based on true and correct judicial precedents and statutory interpretation. e. Follow up proceedings on legal claims of employees deceased in U.A.E f. Provide general legal support to all project and corporate team where required. g. Secure external representation as deemed appropriate h. Accuracy of advice i. Coordination with and assistance by external legal advisors as deemed appropriate
4. To support on disciplinary proceedings within the company in order to maintain productivity, discipline and legal compliance. a. Investigate discipline violations of employees b. Recommend actions such as warning, penalties, suspensions, terminations, etc c. Discipline & statutory obligations maintained d. Compliance of disciplinary action to the U.A.E Federal law
5. To monitor litigation and arbitration proceeding involving in order to advocate early settlement or alternative action where beneficial to the company. a. Liaise with external legal representation b. Negotiate settlement agreements c. Communicate formulated view to management on action d. Instruct external legal representation on behalf of company e. Conduct follow up f. Update litigation and arbitration details in the required monthly report g. Adequate follow up conducted h. Litigation and arbitration list prepared on a monthly basis
Qualifications, Experience and Skills a. Minimum Qualifications - Degree in Law 5+ years b. Experience - Practicing legal advisor with two years specific practice in labor law/industrial disputes/ contracts & agreements and conversant with UAE Federal Law. c. Behavioral Skills - Organization, Analytical, Diligent, Confidentiality, Sensitivity to information, Detail oriented, Communication, interpersonal d. Technical Skills - Computer Knowledge, Negotiation & Advocacy experience,
Knowledge of local construction industry regulations and applicable statutes
Ability to commute/relocate:
- Dubai: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (required)
