- IB Bilingual English/French (with Arabic)
- IB Bilingual English/German (with Arabic)
- IB with additional languages (French or German with Arabic) and personalised STEAM* programme from PreKG-Grade 5.

**Job Scope**

The role of Boarding House Matron is principally to ensure the smooth day to day operations of the boarding houses and assist with the pastoral care of the students who are resident in the boarding houses. The Boarding House Matron is required to make a major contribution to the caring, family atmosphere of the boarding school. This will involve working closely with the Head of Boarding and Boarding Team to ensure that the students settle into boarding life.

**Safeguarding Statement**

Safeguarding is everybody’s responsibility. All staff working at SISD will have some contact with children and will therefore be in a position of trust. Staff with teaching duties will be responsible for the students that they teach and may also have additional specific pastoral or other responsibilities for other students they do not teach. In addition, all staff will regularly interact with students who may seek assistance or otherwise interact with them whilst moving around the school. In all cases, the post holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the students is to adhere to and always ensure compliance with the school’s safeguarding and child protection policies and procedures to include whistleblowing. The post holder is required to declare all convictions and cautions (including those which are “spent”) to assess their suitability to work with children. SISD is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The post holder must be willing to undergo child protection screening, including checks with past employers and provide police clearance checks.

**Main Duties and Responsibilities**

This not an exhaustive list of duties/responsibilities. The responsibilities outlined may be modified by the Head of Boarding, upon mutual agreement, to reflect or anticipate changes in the role: Parents, Pupils and Guardians
- To be responsible for the care, supervision, cleanliness, and presentation of pupils in the house, coordinating and liaising with other boarding staff as necessary.
- To liaise with parents and/or guardians of students in the house about matters concerning domestic, welfare and medical issues, in consultation with the Head of Boarding.
- To contribute to the induction arrangements for new pupils joining the house and to ensure that any ‘settling in’ problems are discussed with the Head of Boarding and Tutors.
- To provide a sympathetic presence in the house, and to be sensitive to those who are having difficulties coping with school life and to liaise closely with other relevant staff concerning the progress and welfare of pupils.
- To liaise with House Tutors regarding pupil absence. Ensure relevant information concerning appointments, which involve pupil absence, is relayed to the school office by 09:00.
- To ensure that pupils attend meals and encourage them to adopt a healthy lifestyle.
- To show prospective pupils and parents around the boarding house as required.
