**Job Summary**:
A Commercial IMCA Accredited Construction Diver plays a crucial role in underwater construction and maintenance projects. This role requires a high level of diving expertise and certification from the International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA). Construction divers work in a variety of environments, including offshore oil and gas platforms, bridges, dams, and other underwater structures. They are responsible for conducting underwater inspections, repairs, installations, and construction tasks while ensuring safety, quality, and adherence to industry standards.
**Key Responsibilities**:
1. Underwater Inspections:
- Conduct thorough inspections of underwater structures and equipment to assess their condition and identify potential issues.
- Document findings, including photographs and video recordings, for assessment and reporting.
2. Underwater Repairs and Maintenance:
- Perform underwater welding, cutting, and other maintenance and repair tasks on structures, pipelines, and equipment.
- Utilize specialized tools and equipment to complete underwater maintenance and repair projects.
3. Construction and Installation:
- Assist in the construction and installation of underwater structures, such as pipelines, platforms, and foundations.
- Follow engineering plans and blueprints to ensure precise and accurate installations.
4. Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures to ensure the safety of oneself and the entire dive team.
- Ensure compliance with IMCA guidelines and regulations as well as relevant industry standards.
5. Equipment Operation and Maintenance:
- Operate and maintain diving equipment, including diving suits, helmets, umbilicals, and tools, to ensure their proper functioning.
- Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of diving equipment to prevent malfunctions.
6. Communication:
- Maintain clear communication with surface personnel and team members via underwater communication systems.
- Relay information regarding work progress, issues, and safety concerns effectively.
7. Environmental Considerations:
- Follow environmental guidelines and regulations to minimize the impact of underwater construction and maintenance activities on the ecosystem.
8. Emergency Response:
- Be prepared to respond to emergency situations, such as equipment malfunctions, medical emergencies, or entanglement, using established emergency procedures.
9. Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate records of dive logs, equipment maintenance, and project-related documentation.
10. Training and Certification:
- Keep certifications and training up-to-date, including IMCA accreditation, to ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.
**Qualifications and Requirements**:
- IMCA Accreditation: Must hold valid IMCA certification as a Construction Diver.
- Commercial Diving Certification: Certification from a recognized commercial diving school or organization.
- Experience: Typically requires several years of experience as a construction diver, preferably in commercial or industrial settings.
- Physical Fitness: Excellent physical condition and the ability to pass a thorough medical examination.
- Strong Swimming Skills: Proficient swimming abilities and comfort in underwater environments.
