UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.

Based in Abu Dhabi, the UN Women Liaison Office (LO) for the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) is working to strengthen partnerships, mobilize resources and raise awareness to advance UN Women’s key priorities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), GCC countries, and beyond. The office is the first of its kind in the GCC. The office main priorities are to:

- Enhance coordination between different sectors to drive the mandate of UN Women in the UAE and GCC countries.
- Strengthen partnerships to drive Sustainable Development Goal 5 on advancing gender equality; further the women, peace, and security agenda.
- Realize progress on the women’s economic empowerment agenda in the UAE and GCC.

The UAE is set to host the 28th meeting of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change Conference (UNFCCC) also known as COP28 this year. UN Women will support and collaborate on centering women’s issues in the climate agenda such as increasing women’s leadership in global peace and security and climate action, and work collaboratively to advance these matters as a key priority at COP28.

UN Women LO for the GCC seeks to hire an intern to support the UAE efforts in implementing the planned activities and provide support to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, COP28.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Provide administrative support to the Operations Team, including but not limited to:

- Support the team in handling various administrative tasks related to COP28 preparations.

Assist the Communications Team in their day-to-day activities, which may include:

- Support in managing social media accounts and engaging with the audience.
- Compiling information necessary for content development and reporting.

Gather information and data to contribute to the preparation of briefing notes, talking points, Minutes of meetings and reports as required.

Support in preparations for GCC LO activities and events, including logístical coordination and support.

Assist in the editing and revision of reports, briefs, and other documents as needed to ensure accuracy and clarity.

Collect information and facilitate communication between UN partners, national counterparts, and stakeholders regarding COP28.

Draft letters and official correspondence in both Arabic and English languages.

Provide support in additional tasks and projects assigned by the GCC LO, as required.

**Required Skills and Experience**:
**Education**:

- University studies in one of the following disciplines: gender studies, human rights, international relations, or business management.

Meet one of the following:
a) Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as a master’s programme, or higher);
b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (such as bachelor’s degree or equivalent);
c) Be enrolled in a mandatory national service programme of which the internship may form a part;
d) Have recently graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within two-years of graduation.
