The Role
**Job Title**: Risk Management Officer Department: Risk Management & Dealing Desk Location: Dubai, UAE Job Summary: The Risk Management Officer is responsible for identifying, assessing, and managing potential operational risks within the company. This role involves developing effective risk mitigation strategies, ensuring continuous oversight of risk factors, and updating the risk management guide to reflect the evolving landscape of the financial markets and regulatory requirements. This role is for a company under Category one of SCA licenses. Key Responsibilities: Risk Identification and Assessment Identify and evaluate potential risks arising from the organization’s operational activities, assessing their impact on the organization’s licensed activities. Perform regular risk assessments to stay ahead of emerging risks and ensure all risks are documented and addressed in compliance with regulatory standards. Risk Mitigation and Decision-Making Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies, including contingency plans to address potential issues effectively. Make informed decisions to address and manage risks as they arise, ensuring mínimal impact on operations and compliance with regulations. Monitoring and Reporting Continuously monitor operational activities to detect any changes in risk factors, reporting any potential or identified risks to senior management. Prepare and present comprehensive risk reports, detailing risk levels, mitigation measures, and potential improvements in processes. Risk Management Policy Development Update and maintain the risk management guide to reflect current operational activities, financial market conditions, and regulatory requirements. Ensure the risk management guide aligns with the organization’s financial goals, risk appetite, and regulatory compliance obligations. Education and Training Provide training and guidance to staff regarding risk awareness, detection, and reporting procedures. Foster a culture of proactive risk management and ensure that all employees understand their roles in maintaining compliance with risk policies.
**Requirements**:
**Qualifications**: Education & Experience: Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or a related field with at least 5 years of experience in SCA licensed financial services companies. Alternatively, a diploma or equivalent with at least 10 years of experience in SCA licensed financial services companies. Preferred Additional Qualifications: Master Financial Risk Manager (FRM) Master Financial Controller Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) Chartered Development Finance Analyst Certified Management Accountant (CMA) ICA Specialist Certificate in Conduct Risk Core Competencies: Analytical Skills: Strong capability in analyzing complex operational activities and identifying potential risks. Decision-Making: Ability to make prompt, well-informed decisions to address and mitigate risks effectively. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for clear reporting and guidance across departments. Attention to Detail: High attention to detail in monitoring activities and updating risk policies. Leadership: Skilled in guiding and educating staff on risk management practices, promoting a culture of proactive risk mitigation.
