The Economist Events business is the award winning, leading provider of international forums for senior executives seeking new insights into strategic issues. These meetings include industry conferences, management events and government roundtables held around the world. Each meeting organised by the events teams delivers objective and informed analysis. Meetings provide unusually high-level forums where senior executives can gain insights, exchange views and compare strategies.

Currently we are seeking a Freelance Programme Editor, Europe for The Economist's Custom Events business to lead the development and delivery of bespoke events in the region. The role will be responsible for developing original ideas, working closely with commercial teams to develop business and pitch programmes, managing a team of permanent and temporary content creators and ensuring the high-quality delivery of client-focused content programmes. The contract can be located within any of the EMEA countries, including: UK, France, Germany, Dubai and Switzerland

**Accountabilities**:
**How you will contribute**:

- Work closely with the global head of content to develop the custom events' content strategy
- Lead content development of the custom business' European portfolio of events
- Create original, engaging content to meet client objectives
- Oversee the recruitment of exceptional, high-calibre speakers which reflect the standing of _The Economist_'s brand
- Manage a team of programme editors, executives and assistants to deliver high-quality content and speakers
- Maintain, update and ensure adherence to editorial and best-practice guidelines

- Significant experience in content creation, editorial or a related field
- A track record of developing bespoke content programmes and initiatives
- Exceptional organisation and time-management skills
- Proven experience managing a team of content creators, with the ability to mentor, nurture and develop young talent
- An excellent understanding of _The Economist_ and The Economist Events' brands and position in the marketplace
- Exceptional writing and editing skills
- Demonstrate strong commercial acumen and client management skills
- A calm temperament and positive attitude
- Occasional travel to Dubai may be required if the contractor is based in another location
