The Assistant Manager’s primary job is to manage day to day functioning of the department and ensure customer service excellence by providing leadership and ensuring effective planning, direction and coordination of the activities of the team leaders in the department (incl. sea export, sea import). Reporting to the General Manager Sea Freight and serving as a member of Middle Management Team within DSV UAE organization. Working with the management team, the position contributes to the development and implementation of organizational strategies, policies and practices.They are also responsible to keep the reporting manager updated about daily activities and escalate issues if any.

It is expected that the Assistant Manager, Sea Freight can demonstrate excellent leadership skills, exceptional customer service, communication skills and takes ownership of challenges and provide resolution to clients and team with a pro-active approach. It is also expected that this person can work with the direction given, raise concerns and adhere to all deadlines provided.

**Reporting Line**:
Report to: General Manager Sea Freight

Role: Managing and leading team leaders and team of 8 Sea Import and Sea Export executives.

**Detailed Responsibilities**:

- Responsible for supervising the day-to-day activities of the department
- Taking ownership on assigned accounts / tasks from operational and customer service point of view
- He/she will be the second level of escalation for all operational related issues in sea freight import, export.
- Ensure all queries and complaints are investigated and responded to promptly, from both internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Establish effective communication and develop relationships with customer, contractors, network offices and any other stakeholders
- Ensure that workload and tasks are well organized, and deadlines are met within the team
- Manage and drive achievement of team operations KPIs as well as KPIs agreed with the clients and take corrective actions when needed
- Analyze the department’s productivity, financial results, customer development and take actions for improvement on the same
- Checking profit margin report to monitor the revenue, cost, profit and run-off.
- Achieve set targets with regards to business development within the department
- Being a Middle Manager, being accountable to the Top Management for the department’s function.
- Provide guidance to the team and inspire them for maximum performance
- Defining, developing and discussing strategies, policies or other information from top management to the lower level
- Ensure smooth work flow and process flow between the departments by demonstrating close collaboration
- Undertake client visits as and when necessary.
- Keep a track of the clients’ behavior and business and be alert to any new business opportunity
- Ensure to identify and block any revenue leakage.
- Ensure full compliance to the SOPs and guidelines issued by the respective product/service
- Setting KPIs for the team leaders and monitoring the performance, conducting regular performance reviews
- Any other relevant task assigned by management.

**Qualifications & Characteristics**:

- Experience of minimum 6-8 years working in preferably operations role in freight forwarding industry
- A Bachelor’s degree is desirable
- Good knowledge of operational procedures in UAE as well as geographical knowledge on a global scale
- Experience in project and special transport (heavy lift) business is preferable
- Leadership experience
- Good Relations with various shipping liners.
- Must be customer service oriented and result driven
- Ability to take ownership and handle customer complaints effectively and professionally in a timely manner
- Fluent English communication skills
- Very good organizational skills
- Paying attention to detail
- Self starter
- Must have a strong knowledge of our products and services
- Extrovert personality with strong relationship building capabilities
- Good communication, negotiation and organisation skills
- Excellent team player
- Ability to define requirem
