A strong team of learning experience and design experts working across all age groups and experience types to deliver effective, engaging, intuitive and innovative learning experiences with learning design at the core of all ELL Products.

**About the Role**

The _Head of Learning Experience and Design_ is responsible for developing and implementing the strategy and driving learning and design innovation for effective, inclusive, accessible, intuitive, appealing and engaging learning solutions. The role will serve as a bridge between all stakeholders, such as Product Managers, Content, Digital Production, UX, DE&I, Efficacy and Learning Research, Technology and other teams.

The Head of Learning Experience and Design will also be responsible for managing the team of Learning Designers and Designers and implementing the team’s vision in line with Pearson’s longer-term strategy. The Head of Learning Experience and Design will also be responsible for directing the development of courseware to embed the Learning Design Principles, Accessibility and effective user experience across all devices and in both print and digital environments.

This is a global role and can be based in the UK, US ( **East Coast time zone only** ), Poland, Dubai, Turkey, Hong Kong, Italy or Spain.

**Key Accountabilities**
- Analyse the competitor landscape and initiate changes in the courseware needed to be competitive and provide the best learning solutions.
- Drive the development of effective, market leading and high-quality learning experiences through appropriate platforms and vendors.
- Oversee the design and development of the learning solutions in the active projects and ensure consistency across projects.
- Work with the design team to standardize and streamline the workflows and templatize the pages for efficiency and consistency.
- Drive design innovation and ensure a digital focus of the design team via the adoption of new tools, such as Figma and Adobe XD, and development of wireframes for all digital experiences.
- Support the content teams and product managers in developing an effective prototype of the title, considering all types of experiences and learning design principles.
- Work with the teams to develop tools and resources that will support the content teams, such as LXP templates, Wireframes and UX improvements, rubric/DL bank, Accessibility Guidelines, recommend best practices etc.
- Position the Learning Designers and Designers as experts in their fields and ensure their expertise is incorporated early in the workflow for the product development.
- Challenge assumptions to deliver the learner-centered experiences across all ELL Products.
- Develop simple and smooth User Journeys in relation to print and digital learning experiences and define the relationship between the two.
- Identify gaps and challenges in embedding learning design practices in our products and drive initiatives to bridge the gaps.
- Acts as a bridge between the Product Owners, Content Team, Production Team, UX Team, Efficacy and Learning Research Teams and Vendors, ensuring smooth and effective workflows.
- Drive the education innovation and best practice research and train all content teams on it regularly.
- Drive initiatives aimed at reducing speed to market, optimising the workflows, streamlining the technology used and reusing the content.
- Accelerate digital transformation of the current and new products by focusing on effective digital experiences.
- Ensure all courseware developed is accessible by all learners and work to support the content teams and vendors in remediating the titles as well as develop tools necessary for the teams to implement accessibility across all titles.
- Work closely with the product and content teams to ensure that all courses are mapped to the Global Scale of English Learning Objectives.

- Understanding of the bigger picture and the strategic importance of the team and its function in relation to the ELL business.
- Visionary approach to development of the learner-centred experiences, not bound by the current technological deficiencies.
