Job Description

Lead the development of the UAEU Libraries Public Services and Engagement strategies to increase the level of activity in the UAEU Libraries and visitor numbers. - To manage the Libraries’ public services including Information Services (Reference), Lending (Circulation) and Events for the benefit of students, faculty and community users. - To work in partnership with external agencies to increase the level of engagement of the UAEU Libraries staff with the community. - Report back to the UAEU Director of Libraries on the partnerships, and events supporting the UAEU’s strategic agenda. - Supervise and lead the Unit Head of Events and Outreach - Supervise and lead the Unit Head of Public Services including the Lending (Circulation) team; the Information Services Team, the Document delivery Team and the Information Literacy Training Team. - Initiate and develop relationships leading to potential partnerships with industry, government and the community to support the UAEU Libraries strategic agenda

Minimum Qualifacation
- Master degree or equivalent in a relevant field. (e.g. Library science; community development; knowledge management, fine arts /performance)

Preferred Qualifacation

PHD, Master Degree, Leadership

Excpected Skills
- At least 6 years’ recent experience working with libraries, or museums, galleries, including at least 3 years’ experience working at a leadership level. - Experience developing strategic programming in support of organisational goals. - Demonstrated experience at managing diverse public service staff across extended hours rosters and services to the public. - Experience working in a leadership role in a research library - Demonstrated knowledge of the changing role of libraries in the 21st Century - High level of communication and persuasion skills to negotiate and broker partnerships both within and external to the university community - Ability to achieve innovative, cohesive and collaborative programs and service delivery. - Demonstrated experience at leading diverse teams for public programming, visitor services and partnerships which further the objectives of the organisation. - Desirable: experience with managing events and performances for public programming.
