**JOB PURPOSE**:
The Advisor, Business Development actively delivers the day-to-day activities of the newly created Strategy, Portfolio & Assurance function within Client Upstream Directorate. The function was created as part of the reorganization initiative and an ongoing effort to transform client Upstream into a truly global, commercially minded and performance-driven organization. The Strategy & Business Development division is within Strategy, Portfolio & Assurance function, and the Advisor, Business Development reports to the Vice President, Strategy & Business Development.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES**:

- The scope of the role is not restricted to client Upstream, but covers the entire Upstream value chain, and all upstream operations conducted by client Group Companies, by client sole-risk, or by companies reporting directly to the SCFEA active within Abu Dhabi. The Advisor, Business Development will be responsible for all aspects of client Upstream Business Development and will provide support to the function on Strategy, Portfolio Management, Market Intelligence & Stakeholder Management.
- Execute business development activities ranging from the initial identification of the new business opportunity through initial evaluations and interim approvals to partner selection, management approvals and deal closing.
- Mature the opportunity to an investment transaction or capital project and provide support on its Value Assurance Review/Gate process (assessment, concept selection, FEED and Final Investment Decision (FID)).
- Provide business lead and advice to safeguard the interest of Upstream while negotiations by the leadership in concession agreements, joint ventures, committees, and business forums to expand existing relationships and forge new strategic partnerships.
- Analyse Upstream’ s critical business requirements, identify deficiencies and potential opportunities, as well as design and implement solutions for enhancing the Directorate’s business effectiveness.
- Assess market data, analyse new business opportunities and explore for new partnerships in new business areas to improve Upstream’ s resource monetization and achieve financial growth.
- Develop Upstream’s relationship with new businesses and provide support that will continually improve the relationship with potential business partners thus enhancing Upstream’s presence within Business areas.
- Conduct strategic market studies to develop and recommend new business development and investments strategies and plans in line with Upstream’s strategy.
- Explore and expand Upstream’s strategic business opportunities in new Business areas by cultivating partnerships or other commercial relationships for creation of long-term value for the organization.
- Identify and evaluate potential new business opportunities and recommend which are most feasible from a financial, operational and technical perspective in order to strengthen and enhance Upstream revenue.
- Provide analytical expertise in the development of detailed new business proposals and associated business plans to create supportive arguments for new business opportunities which have been evaluated as having the potential to assist in the realisation of Upstream’s strategy.
- Interface with other Business Development teams for Hydrogen, New Energies and other DM&T businesses to identify and develop new opportunities which will out win the competition.
- Maintain effective relations with potential business partners and technology providers to proactively develop the relationship to understand and influence industry trends and maximize upstream commercialization.
- Maintain oil & gas industry knowledge and keeps up to date with the latest market and technical developments by attending related regional conferences, reviewing publications, establishing networks and participating in professional societies.
- Monitor all business development pipeline progress and transaction delivery activities and develop overall portfolio progress reports to provide accurate and timely corporate reports and necessary information to Upstream and client leadership.
- Build, manage, and leverage relationships with existing/potential partners initiating business conversations on Upstream opportunities and develop a strong relationship with potential partners, seeking out new business ideas and developing them for clients growth.

**Minimum Qualification**

Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Engineering or equivalent

**Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills**
- 10 years’ experience within Oil & Gas industry preferably with large Oil & Gas operating companies (NOCs, IOCs, Super Majors).
- In-depth knowledge of oil & gas industry value chain (upstream, midstream, downstream and petrochemicals)
- Thorough knowledge of the Corporate Strategic Planning framework in the Oil and Gas industry.
