Accountable To

Manage the development of the AD Maritime Regulations, standards, code of practices and Procedures to promote safety, security and environmental protection within the Emirate of Abu Dhabi waters and coastal water development by ensuring compliance with the minimum standards of all applicable conventions, statutes and national/international regulations.

Responsible for

Core Responsibilities:
Manage and oversee the drafting of new regulations and procedures are in conformity with International, Federal & Emirate legislation and with AD Maritime Strategic Plan.

Direct the development and introduction of new regulations and procedures within the AD Maritime.

Direct the development, implementation of the AD Maritime internal management system.

Lead the research in determining all possible future Policy and regulatory directions of the AD Maritime.

Working Relationship

Direct the development of policies, regulations and procedures related to the AD Maritime.

Propose the respective section budgets in coordination with the division Head Director Strategy & Regulations.

Ensure availability of required resources to carry out all the tasks related to the Regulation section.

Objectives and Role Profile

Review and discuss with the appraiser, areas of concern if any, and approve periodic performance appraisals of section employees.

Ensure that divisional policies and procedures for the section are documented and adhered to.

Identify the technology needs that ensure that divisional processes are performed efficiently and cost effectively (in coordination with the manager corporate support).

Key Tasks and Performance Indicators

People Management Responsibilities:
Lead and Management of daily schedules of 2 specialists (Regulations and Q&A)

Review (as a second level reviewer), discuss with the appraiser, areas of concern if any, and approve periodic performance appraisal.

Ensure all the staff acquire the required skills and knowledge through appropriate training programs.

Qualifications/Experience/Competencies

Minimum of a Bachelor Degree in maritime studies or maritime law or business management or equivalent

Preferably with Nautical Certificate of Competency for (Master-Unlimited) and at least minimum one year on the job experience in EHS and Incident management.
