What we're looking for

As part of this role, you will have to contribute day-to-day specialist knowledge within your discipline and lead projects that provide technically & commercially focused support and/or service delivery to internal and/or external clients. As a subject matter expert, you will determine solutions for problems within your discipline, where the parameters are not well defined and where previous experience does not provide any precedent.

The role

• Development of high-quality proposals while managing risk exposure to the business leveraging existing technical capability within LR and external capability integral to supporting and delivering the value propositions.
• Manage projects within a discipline and ensure they are in accordance with quality system requirements, cost structures, and budgetary/contractual requirements.
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary teams drawing on wider LR resources to develop integrated strategies and business solutions and provide subject matter expert advice to key clients.
• Assess/recommend the time/value of the work to be undertaken for an internal/external client within an agreed fee/cost structure.
• Manage technical and commercial aspects of bid development and project delivery while drawing in expertise from our global LR group.
• Conduct activities in line with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards.
• Pursue continuous professional development and maintain a high degree of discipline, knowledge, and awareness.
• Mentor/coach other employees, as appropriate, to achieve effective knowledge transfer and application.
• Make recommendations based on internal/external client feedback to assist in service delivery improvement and to help build the business.
• Provide specialist support/advice within a discipline to internal/external clients.
• Produce deliverables within the agreed broad parameters in an appropriate format and take responsibility for reviewing other employees' work as appropriate.
• Discuss/present deliverables with internal/external clients up to the senior level and suggest alternative solutions where appropriate.
• Improve service delivery by communicating internal/external client feedback as appropriate.
• Develop sustainability key performance indicators, strategies, and management plans for planning and designing projects and implement them throughout the project duration.
• Support business development with opportunity identification, proposal development, direct and indirect marketing, and thought leadership.
• Undertake administration as required in line with current processes and procedures.

What you bring

• A bachelor's degree (or master's degree preferred) from a recognized institution within the relevant field of engineering or business.
• An expert advisor/Subject Matter Expert in Dry/Liquid bulk Port Terminals for a full spectrum of design, engineering, operations, risk management, governance, policies, commissioning, and decommissioning of port assets.
• Knowledge of Container Ports, Cruise Terminals, and/or Shipyards would be an added advantage.
• Industry expert in the discipline with exposure to various Ports stakeholders.
• Minimum 15 years of industry experience, at least 7 years of experience in best-in-class consulting & advisory firms.
• Membership of appropriate professional institution.
• Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status preferred.
• Experience in Ports comprehensive risk management, community impact, operational, navigation safety, and Critical Infrastructure studies.
• Experience conducting analysis (desktop research, data analysis, reviewing documents, interviewing, etc.) and synthesizing into digestible outputs (e.g., reports, presentations).
• Exposure to Environmental Sustainability and Regulatory Compliance related to various Ports models.
• Experience in Port planning assessment for consideration of operations in a green environment, Ports Master Plan development & logistics analysis.
• Experience working in a 'Seller-Doer' environment with a consultative selling skillset.
• Experience in the development of complex technical reports in line with local/regional regulatory requirements and international best practices.
• Exposure to Port capacity assessment, congestion management, digital assessment, and automation.
• Exposure to Port energy transition, decarbonization strategy, green port infrastructure, and technology integration.
• Provide expert guidance in selecting the best investments and technical solutions for port operations and infrastructure.
• Highly effective communication skills, both written and verbal, in English (additional languages preferred).
• Ability to build strong relationships with a range of clients.
• Strong facilitation skills that are adaptable to different situations and communication styles. Experience with creating business development materials to support projects.
• Be flexible, adaptable, and prepared to take on new challenges and work from other LR or client office locations.
• Be highly self-motivated, possessing strong enthusiasm and commitment to delivering sustainable outcomes. Able to prioritize and work effectively under pressure.
