AWS has an exciting Network Technician opportunity in Abu Dhabi available for a UAE national with family book. AWS is committed to contributing towards the UAE's goal of employing 75,000 Emiratis in the private sector and Ministerial Resolution No.279.

Are you a technical professional interested in joining an elite team and learning the skills necessary to build and scale one of the world's largest information system infrastructures? We are currently expanding our infrastructure team and are looking for a Network Technician.

You will be part of the Infrastructure Delivery (ID) team, delivering AWS network installation and deployments in AWS Cloud regions. You will work closely with internal customers, external vendors as well as coordinating regional resources to facilitate smooth project execution in association with Technical Program Managers.

Key Job Responsibilities
  1. Deliver sustainable and repeatable solutions and processes with continuous improvement in mind.
  2. Work closely with our Network Engineering & Network Technical Program Manager teams to ensure fast, smooth rollout of new designs and products.
  3. Installing, configuring and supporting network equipment including routers, servers, switches using provisioning portals.
  4. Lead network and committee projects & collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to remove project obstacles.
  5. Manage work and priorities through ticketing system and workflow.
  6. Installing and patching network cabling of various types and lengths while demonstrating a functional knowledge of fiber optic and network cabling and labeling conforming to AWS standards.
  7. Handling heavy equipment (move and lift computer equipment up to 50lbs).
  8. Performing root cause analysis of equipment failures. Diagnosing hardware and network problems followed by physical basic replacement of damaged or faulty equipment and devices.
A Day in the Life

A day in the life of an ID Technician is exciting and varies from day to day with a range of responsibilities, including patching fibre connections, troubleshooting link issues using our internal applications with careful planning, especially when spanning across separate data centers in different regions. We also handle hardware installation in racks, device configuration and upgrades, as well as executing scripts. Collaboration with multiple teams is crucial while working on projects as we maintain regular progress updates. We have access to internal systems to keep data up-to-date and use internal resources to dive deep and to keep learning.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • 2+ years of computer networking experience
  • Knowledge of IT system hardware and network concepts
  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or computer science
  • Knowledge of fiber optic and copper cabling standards, testing equipment and troubleshooting methodologies
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP networks
  • Can lift and rack equipment up to 40 pounds
  • UAE National with family book
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Significant background in large scale datacenter network implementations and support.
  • Experience dealing with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.
  • Experience with medium to large, complex project scopes and ambiguous details within work environment.
  • Excellent judgement and analytical skills, ability to prioritize tasks and time management based on fluctuating needs.
  • Strong understanding of major Command Line Protocols (Cisco, JunOS,...) and common Networking Protocols (BGP, OSPF).
  • Several years of experience working in virtualized enterprise networking environments
  • Professional experience with IT & Project Management best practice frameworks (ITIL, LEAN, AGILE) and Operational Excellence concepts is a plus.
