Role Overview: Head of Velo Logistics
As the Head of Velo Logistics, you will play a critical role in defining the strategy, operations, and overall growth of the company. This is a true 0-to-1 opportunity , where you will be responsible for building and scaling the entire company from scratch . You will be the first key hire , with the autonomy to set the direction and build a strong team for execution and expansion. This role requires a strong leader with experience in logistics, supply chain management, and the ability to build a logistics company housing talented HQ staff and pool of 500+ bike riders.

Key Responsibilities
- Building from ground up: Hands on scaling of the company including team building, rider onboarding, and designing/executing new processes with a high bias of action and hustle
- Operational Excellence: Ensure smooth and cost-effective logistics operations by building processes from scratch and optimizing fleet efficiency. Manage P&L, budgeting, and cost control measures (such as partner negotiations) to maintain profitability.
- Relentless focus on customer satisfaction & retention: Ensure high levels of customer service by improving operational reliability, response times, and overall service quality.
- Risk management: Identifying potential risks (regulatory, legal, or operational) to the business and developing strategies to mitigate them.
- Day to day business ownership: Get your hands dirty by actively running and optimizing daily operations. Be on the ground to fix bottlenecks, streamline workflows, and make real-time decisions that boost rider productivity. Solve operational challenges firsthand and iterate quickly to improve efficiency.
- Rider advocacy: Be a relentless champion for rider well-being. Hustle to ensure they have stable earnings, fair compensation, and the right support structures. Roll out impactful initiatives, personally engage with riders to understand their challenges, and push for policies that secure their financial stability.
Qualifications & Skills
- Startup, self-starter and hustle mind-set to run and scale the company
- Hands-on, execution-focused leader who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- At least a bachelor’s degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- 7+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or operations management, with at least 3 years in a senior leadership role in Dubai
- Strong experience in handling and working with UAE government and semi-government entities (eg: MOHRE, RTA etc.)
- Strong understanding of P&L management, financial planning, and cost optimization
- Proven track record in scaling logistics operations and driving profitability.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. English, Hindi and Urdu is a must. Arabic is a plus.
- Knowledge of logistics technology, automation, and digital transformation trends.
- People management skills: Experience of managing bigger group of people like bike/courier drivers
- Proficient in Google Suite tools like GDoc, GSheet, GSlides, GForms etc
