Roles and responsibilities

1. Electrical KnowledgeandExpertise

  • ElectricalSystems Understanding: In-depth knowledge ofelectrical systems, including lowvoltage and highvoltage systems, power distribution, and controlsystems.
  • CircuitDesign: Ability to read, interpret, and designelectrical circuits for installations, repairs, orupgrades.
  • ElectricalTroubleshooting: Proficiency in diagnosing andrepairing faults in electrical circuits, wiring, and equipment suchas motors, transformers, andgenerators.

2. MaintenanceSkills

  • PreventiveMaintenance: Experience in conducting regularinspections and preventive maintenance on electrical equipment toensure optimal performance and extend equipmentlifespan.
  • CorrectiveMaintenance: Ability to diagnose problems andperform corrective maintenance on electrical systems, machinery,and equipment to restorefunction.
  • EquipmentCalibration: Proficiency in calibrating electricalinstruments and tools to ensure accurate operation andmeasurement.
  • Wiring andInstallations: Ability to install and repairelectrical wiring, panels, outlets, and other components inaccordance with electrical codes andstandards.

3. Technicaland MechanicalSkills

  • Hands-OnTechnical Work: Proficiency in performing hands-onelectrical work, including the use of hand tools, power tools, andspecialized equipment like multimeters andoscilloscopes.
  • Electrical Codesand Standards: Knowledge of local and internationalelectrical codes and standards (e.g.,NEC - National Electrical Code,IEC - International ElectrotechnicalCommission) and ensuring compliance in all maintenance andinstallation work.
  • MotorControl: Knowledge of electric motor controlsystems, including VFDs (Variable FrequencyDrives), star-deltastarters, and PLC-controlled motorcircuits.
  • ElectricalComponents: Understanding of various electricalcomponents like resistors, capacitors, switches, transformers,relays, fuses, and circuitbreakers.

4. Safety andCompliance

  • SafetyRegulations: Familiarity with electrical safetystandards, including lockout/tagoutprocedures, grounding,and electrical hazard analysis tominimize risks.
  • PersonalProtective Equipment (PPE): Knowledge of appropriatePPE, such as insulated gloves, safety glasses, and arc flash suits,and ensuring they are worn during electrical maintenancetasks.
  • RiskAssessment: Ability to assess and mitigateelectrical hazards, such as electric shocks, fire, or equipmentfailure, and apply safe workingpractices.
  • EnvironmentalCompliance: Understanding of environmentalregulations related to electrical waste disposal, energyconsumption, and minimizing the environmental impact of electricalmaintenanceactivities.

5.Problem-Solving andTroubleshooting

  • RootCause Analysis: Strong ability to perform root causeanalysis to identify the source of electrical problems, whether inmachinery, systems, orequipment.
  • DiagnosticTools: Proficiency in using diagnostic tools likemultimeters, insulationresistance testers, earth groundtesters, andoscilloscopes to troubleshoot andresolve electricalissues.
  • CircuitTesting: Skill in testing electrical circuits toensure that they are functioning within specified parameters,detecting any deviations that may indicate afault.

  • TechnicalReporting: Ability to document maintenanceactivities, repairs, test results, and equipment performance, andreport findings to senior engineers ormanagers.
  • TeamCollaboration: Strong communication skills tocollaborate with other engineers, technicians, and maintenancestaff to resolve issues and improve electrical systemreliability.
  • Instruction andTraining: Ability to assist in training juniortechnicians or new team members on safe electrical maintenancepractices, system operation, and troubleshootingtechniques.
  • ClearDocumentation: Skill in maintaining accurate logs,records of work orders, and inventory of electrical components andequipment.

7. Computerand SoftwareSkills

  • Computer-AidedDesign (CAD): Familiarity withAutoCAD or similar CAD software toassist in designing electrical systems andschematics.
  • MaintenanceManagement Software: Experience usingComputerized Maintenance Management Systems(CMMS) like SAP PM,Maximo, or InforEAM to manage maintenance schedules, work orders,and parts inventory.
  • MicrosoftOffice Suite: Proficiency in usingMicrosoft Excel,Word, andOutlook for maintaining records,generating reports, and communicating with teammembers.

8. ProjectManagementSupport

  • ProjectAssistance: Assisting senior engineers in planningand executing electrical projects, including coordinatingresources, timelines, andpersonnel.
  • MaterialManagement: Assisting with the procurement andmanagement of electrical components and materials required forinstallations or repairs.
  • TimeManagement: Prioritizing and managing multiple taskseffectively to meet project deadlines and operationalrequirements.
  • CostControl: Assisting with cost estimation formaintenance projects and ensuring that expenditures stay withinbudget limits.

Candidatemust have at least bachelor's degree inelectrical engineering from reputed university withat least 06 years of experience in power plant/power system orsimilar industrial application. Should have deep knowledge of powerplant related equipment like Generator & Excitation system(SFC/ SEE), Transformer, Protection system, Switch gear, Motors,Battery, Battery Charger, Inverter etc. Experience in carrying outmajor shutdown support, project work and maintenance(PM&CM) activities for above equipment's. Abilityto read & understand single line diagrams, schematicdrawings, P&I drawings, protection relay logics &programming etc is a must. Should be well versed in SAP, ISO,Microsoft office. Good Communication & coordination skills.Fluent in oral and written English language, also, Arabic languageskill will be an advantage. Sound knowledge of occupational safety/safety practices & procedures.
