Roles and responsibilities
  • Perform conceptual, FEED,or detailed design analysis and develop them as per project Scopeof Work design basis, project documentation, design codes andstandards, and McDermott procedures within the planned schedule andbudget
  • Apply in-depth skills and broadknowledge of the business to address complex problems andnon-standard situations and report them to the Project ManagementTeam and Department Manager at an earlystage
  • Prepare detailed design calculations andanalyses including design reports andprocedures
  • Manage own time to meet objectivesand forecast and plan resourcerequirements
  • Lead others to solve complexproblems, use sophisticated analytical thought to exercisejudgment, and identify innovativesolutions
  • Interpret internal/external businesschallenges and recommend best practices to improve technology,processes, or services
  • Explain difficultconcepts and negotiate with others to adopt a different point ofview
  • Focused on health and safety policies andprocedures
  • When acting as Leadengineer:
    • Direct medium or large Engineering andDesign team as a Lead Engineer
    • Lead theDiscipline engineering design of the assigned work area andcomplete within the planned schedule and budget, in accordance withstandards, MDR, and project-specific procedures and to a highprofessional standard
    • Plan, organize, anddirect all aspects of discipline execution of the assigned projectincluding scope, deliverables, schedule, and manpowerresources
    • Ensure interfaces and deliverablesare clearly identified
    • Maintain responsibilityfor progress and productivity, identifying any required correctiveaction
    • Act as project representative for thediscipline during meetings with the project team, Client, andrelevant agencies such as certifying authorities, auditors, thirdparties, etc.
  • Becomefully familiar with the project SoW, Specification, Schedule, andall inter-discipline requirements
  • Interfacewith other departments to obtain input for engineering anddesign
  • Interface with High-Value Centers(HVECs) ensuring a clear understanding of theirSoW
  • Prepare Iso Curve based on required inputin line with Project Level 3 Schedule
  • Whenacting as Lead Engineer or area Lead:
    • Review thePiping budget, and provide Piping input for the Project ExecutionPlan
    • Plan, organize, and assign tasks,responsibilities, and man-hour budgets to piping sub-discipline andverify tasks are completed withinbudgets
    • Support 3D-Model review at 30%, 60%& 90% progress
    • Provide PipingDiscipline input into Plan Level 2, 3, and 4 schedules and reviewthe dependencies
    • Prepare discipline forecastsidentifying changes to scope and promptly raising anotification
    • Alert the team of any deviationfrom the Scope of work or a need for a changeorder
    • Provide piping man-hours, schedule, anddeliverables list including Piping Discipline ExecutionPlan
    • Check and approve design philosophies,specifications, pipe supports, standard detail drawings, MTO, andmaterial requisitions in accordance with the project scope of workand contract
    • Monitor KPI measurement resultsand take corrective action
    • Lead PipingDiscipline during project internal or ExternalAudits
  • Assist theDepartment Manager in the Performance Evaluation of Piping teammembers
  • Support proposals andstudies
Desired candidate profile
  • Bachelor's Degree or Master'sDegree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 15-20 years ofexperience as a Piping Engineer in Oil and gas with a majorcontractor performing Conceptual, Pre-FEED, FEED, and detaildesign
  • Previous experience as Lead PipingEngineer on FEED and EPC projects via Multi-offices ProjectExecution
  • Detailed knowledge of Pre-FEED, FEED,and Detailed Design Phases Projects
  • Detailedknowledge and experience of design techniques and application ofstandards, codes, and guidelines
  • Familiar withall Piping Sub-Disciplines including Design and Modelling, PipeStress & Support, Piping Material Engineering, and MTOactivities and deliverables
  • Knowledgeable inproject coordination and executionskills
  • Conversant with international codes andstandards like ANSI, ASME, API, BS, NFPA,etc.
  • Familiar with SP3D / E3D /Navisworks
  • Familiar with stick-built andmodularization approach
  • Preferably RegisteredProfessional Engineer or member of a professional engineeringsociety
  • Familiar with commercial aspects ofprojects and types of contracts
