JOB SUMMARY
Areas of responsibility include Restaurants/Bars and Room Service, if applicable.

Oversees daily restaurant operations, contributes to menu planning, upholds sanitation standards, and supports servers and hosts during peak meal periods.

Strives for constant enhancement of guest and employee satisfaction and optimization of financial performance within assigned areas. Identifies training needs to achieve objectives and follows through with implementation of a plan.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or GED; 4 years experience in the food and beverage, culinary, or related professional field.
OR

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Food Service Management, Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or a related major; 2 years experience in the food and beverage, culinary, or related professional field.

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

Managing Day-to-Day Operations

  • Oversees and directs employees, conducts day-to-day operations, has a solid understanding of employee roles to step in when necessary.
  • Upholds service and sanitation standards in restaurant, bar/lounge, and room service areas.
  • Evaluates staffing levels to ensure meeting guest service, operational needs, and financial targets.

Leading Food and Beverage Team

  • Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and motivate team members; supports sound financial/business decision-making; demonstrates integrity and honesty; sets an example.
  • Fosters trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Acts as a role model by showcasing proper behaviors.
  • Identifies others' development needs and provides coaching, mentoring, or assistance for skills enhancement.
  • Establishes specific goals and strategies to prioritize, organize, and complete tasks.
  • Ensures employees' productivity is maintained.
  • Offers leadership, vision, and guidance to align departmental goals efficiently and effectively.
  • Ensures adherence to all food & beverage rules, regulations, standards through training, supervision, follow-up, and hands-on management.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant laws and guidelines.
  • Ensures adherence to food handling and sanitation regulations.
  • Ensures staff awareness of local, state, and Federal alcohol regulations.
  • Cultivates open, collaborative relationships with employees and encourages the same within the team.
  • Sets clear guidelines to communicate expectations and boundaries to employees.
  • Monitors alcohol service compliance with local regulations.

Ensuring Exceptional Customer Service

  • Delivers services that go beyond to ensure customer satisfaction and loyalty.
  • Enhances service by guiding and supporting individuals to grasp guest needs, offer guidance, feedback, and personal coaching when necessary.
  • Manages daily operations, ensures quality, standards, and meets customer expectations consistently.
  • Demonstrates leadership in guest hospitality, embodies exceptional customer service, and fosters a positive guest relations atmosphere.
  • Encourages employees to provide outstanding customer service.
  • Acts as a guest service role model for the restaurants, setting a benchmark for exceptional customer service and fostering positive guest relations.
  • Handles guest concerns and complaints effectively.
  • Engages with guests informally during meals or upon departure for feedback on food and beverage quality, service standards, and overall satisfaction.
  • Takes corrective measures continuously to enhance service outcomes.
  • Includes guest satisfaction as a focal point in departmental meetings with a continuous improvement focus.
  • Manages service delivery in outlets to ensure exceptional service from arrival to departure, covering hostess greeting, order-taking efficiency, food and beverage delivery, special requests fulfillment, payment collection, and inviting return visits.

Managing and Conducting Human Resource Activities

  • Provides guidance and leadership to subordinates, sets performance expectations, and monitors performance levels.
  • Identify others' educational needs, establish formal educational or training programs, and deliver instruction or training.
  • Ensures equitable treatment of employees, works on enhancing employee retention.
  • Offers ongoing training to staff to comprehend guest expectations.
  • Requests employee feedback, maintains an open communication channel, and reviews employee satisfaction outcomes to address any issues effectively.
  • Strives for enhanced service performance.
  • Ensures acknowledgment across the assigned areas of responsibility.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Communicates information to supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates via telephone, in writing, through email, or in-person.
  • Analyzes data and assesses outcomes to determine the best solutions and resolve issues.
  • Supports servers and hosts during meal times and high demand periods.
  • Recognizes high-quality products and presentations.
  • Oversees daily shift operations in the absence of the Assistant Restaurant Manager.
  • Manages the department's financial aspects, including procurement and invoice payment.
