RAK Academy, Khuzam provides both primary and secondary British and IB learning pathways from Pre-K to Grade 12 for 1300 international and local students.

We are looking to appoint a talented and passionate Deputy Head Teacher (Academic) to join our Secondary school.

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Post Graduate Certificate in Education (or equivalent)

_Desirable _

  • NPQSL or related course or master's degree in a relevant educational field
  • Previous school or multischool leadership roles
  • Strong and proven pedagogical understanding, based on research and best practice.
  • International Baccalaureate experience and knowledge

Experience

  • Minimum of 6 years teaching experience
  • Senior leadership role in school settings
OR


Middle leadership roles in school settings with a proven track record of making meaningful and impactful change at a whole school level.


Key Responsibilities

Assessment

  • Oversight of the quality of assessment (formative and summative) across the school.
  • Implement and monitor systems that ensure internal assessment processes are coherent and consistent, are fully aligned with the curriculum and provide a reliable measure of the academic development of all students.
  • Ensure that the school's processes effectively benchmark student academic outcomes against relevant external expectations.

Curriculum Design and Implementation

  • Ensure that the school's curriculum has a clear and structured rationale, which is aligned with the vision of the school, Emirate and nation.
  • Oversee curriculum development that develops a balance of knowledge, skills and understanding while always adhering to appropriate statutory requirements.
  • Further develop the vertical alignment of the school's curriculum provision to ensure continuity of student learning through all phases of education.
  • Provide a wide range of curricular option choices for students to ensure that they accommodate for the diverse talents, interests and aspirations.

Curriculum Adaptation

  • Implementation of structured systems that ensure that teachers successfully modify the curriculum to meet the needs of all student groups on an ongoing basis.
  • Further develop the curriculum provision across the school to provide a variety of opportunities for students to develop enterprise, innovation, creativity and social contribution.
  • Work with relevant stakeholders to adapt the curriculum in such a way that it allows for students to develop a broad understanding of the UAE's culture and society.
  • Coordination of meaningful, external curriculum aligned experiences across the school to enrich student experience and exposure to realworld scenarios.

Leadership and Management

  • To lead and support Subject Leaders (Heads of Department) in the review, adaptation and development of the curriculum and its implementation.
  • To ensure the Data and Timetabling Manager regularly calculates the staffing required to deliver the curriculum and informs the Senior Leadership Team, Head of Secondary and Principal.
  • Coordination of the IB Diploma Programme for Grade 11 and 1
  • Contribution toward school evaluation and improvement processes with a focus on student achievement, assessment, and curriculum provision.
