YOUTH SERVICES "POP-UP" INTERNS

The Interns will gain practical, hands-on experience by providing reference and readers' advisory at youth services desks, developing and delivering story times and youth/teen programs, creating displays, assisting with special projects, and Additionally, the Interns will work with a team of highly experienced, hardworking, fun, and friendly Youth Services The successful candidate will get not only a crash course in Youth Services Librarianship, but mentorship and professional contacts in their chosen
Hours are as follows and requires
- Monday-Thursday: 8:30am-3:00pm
- Fridays: 8:30am-12:30pm

Position Summary:
The Youth Services Pop-Up Library Intern is responsible for providing engaging hands-on experiences in a mobile version of the Beyond bringing resources to the Schaumburg Township District, this position also signs patrons up for Library cards, provides opportunities to participate in the Summer Challenge program, conducts programming, and acts as a Library ambassador in the

Requirements & Skills for the Position:
Public Service
- Maintain the Pop-Up Library schedule; communicate with staff at each planned
- Develop and facilitate hands-on-activities to use at Pop-Up Library
- Develop and conduct weekly story times and STEM
- Ensure the Pop-Up Library is stocked each day, with a variety of reading materials for all ages and levels, appropriate for those day's locations, and had ample supplies for planned
- Load and unload the van with materials: at each location and at the beginning and ending of each
- Provide Library information and readers' advisory services to a diverse
- Distribute materials to patrons at each location and record daily circulation
- Sign patrons up for the Summer Challenge and Library
- Compile statistics for daily, weekly, and monthly Submit an end of summer narrative
- Conduct patron surveys on their Pop-Up Library experience and submit a report on findings with suggestions for
- Communicate effectively with patrons and staff at various site locations, , apartment complexes, schools, park districts,
- Assist in maintaining collections, assuring that materials are in good condition and, if not, are repaired or

Education and/or experience:
- Bachelor's degree (BA) from a four-year college or university is
- Currently enrolled in a Masters in Library Science candidate or similar MA program
- Working knowledge or word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications is

- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure Ability to write routine reports and Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of
