InternationalCommunity Schools Abu Dhabi is seeking a dedicated and enthusiasticHead of Inclusion to join our dynamic team. Thispivotal role involves creating a stimulating and intellectuallychallenging environment for students from FS/KG to Year 13/Grade12. The successful candidate will foster innovative thinkingcreative problemsolving and inspired learning ensuring that allstudents receive the support they need tosucceed.
KeyResponsibilities:
- LeadershipandManagement:
- StrategicPlanning: Develop and implementa strategic plan for the Inclusion Department aligned with theschools overall mission andvision.
- TeamLeadership: Lead a team ofspecial education teachers learning support assistants andcounselors. Provide guidance mentorship and performance evaluationsto ensure high standards of teaching andlearning.
- PolicyDevelopment: Develop review andupdate the school s inclusion policies ensuring they reflect bestpractices and comply with localregulations.
- BudgetManagement: Oversee thedepartment s budget ensuring resources are allocated effectively tosupport studentneeds.
- DataDrivenDecision Making: Utilize studentperformance data to inform instruction and intervention strategies.Continuously monitor and adjust programs to improve studentoutcomes.
- Assessmentand Identification: Oversee theidentification and assessment process for students with specialeducational needs (SEN) ensuring timely and accuratediagnosis.
- IndividualizedEducation Plans (IEPs):Collaborate with teachers parents and external specialists todevelop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) forstudents with SEN. Ensure that these plans are regularly reviewedandupdated.
- InterventionPrograms: Design and implementtargeted intervention programs to support students with learningdifficulties behavioral challenges and other specialneeds.
- InClassSupport: Coordinate withteachers to provide inclass support ensuring that students with SENcan access the curriculum and participate fully in classroomactivities.
- ParentalEngagement: Establish strongrelationships with parents and guardians ensuring open andeffective communication about their childs progress challenges andachievements.
- InterdepartmentalCollaboration: Work closely withother school departments including curriculum development studentservices and administration to ensure a cohesive approach toinclusion.
- ExternalPartnerships: Liaise withexternal agencies educational psychologists speech and languagetherapists and other specialists to provide comprehensive supportforstudents.
- Reporting:Prepare detailed reports on the progress and effectiveness ofinclusion programs for school leadership governing bodies andregulatoryauthorities.
- StaffTraining: Organize and deliverprofessional development sessions for teachers and support staff oninclusive practices differentiation strategies andSEN.
- ContinuousLearning: Stay updated with thelatest research trends and developments in inclusive education andSEN. Attend relevant conferences workshops and trainingsessions.
- Mentorship:Provide ongoing coaching and support to teachers to help themimplement inclusive practices effectively in theirclassrooms.
- RecordKeeping: Maintain accurate andconfidential records of students assessments IEPs progress reportsand communications with parents and externalagencies.
- Compliance:Ensure that the school complies with all relevant laws andregulations related to SEN and inclusion. Keep abreast of changesin legislation andpolicy.
- ResourceManagement: Manage the selectionpurchase and distribution of resources and materials needed tosupport students withSEN.
Requirements
- EducationalBackground: Bachelor s degree inSpecial Education Inclusive Education or a related field (Master sdegreepreferred).
- TeachingQualification: Valid teachingcertification orlicense.
- Experience:Minimum of insert number years of experience in a school settingwith a proven track record in a leadership role within an inclusionor SENdepartment.
- Knowledge:Indepth understanding of current trends and best practices ininclusive education SEN and differentiatedinstruction.
- Skills:Excellent communication organizational and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in data analysis and use of educationaltechnology.
