•Teaches, supports,coaches and mentors nursing staff to promote evidence-basedpractice, knowledge, skills and professional development related towound care management.

•Liaises withhospital departments in monitoring standards of care relating towound care management. Reviews appropriate policies, procedures andupdates according to evidence-based, bestpractices.

•Assesses, plans, designs,implements, and evaluates educational programs for patients andfamilies in preventative and self-care in relation to wound caretechniques (Ostomy care, Vac dressing, wound change,etc.)

•Visits patients requiring woundcare management in a timely manner and evaluates care given.Reports findings to Team

•Leader and/orNurse Manager as necessary, documents findings and plan of care inthe Electronic Medical Record(EMR).

•Coordinates a multidisciplinaryapproach for efficient wound caremanagement.

•Participates inunit/departmental meetings and committees/projects asrequired.

•Chairs the Wound care linkmeetings and guides the link workers on best practices in woundcare management.

•Manages inventory ofwound care-related equipment (Vac machines, wound cart,etc.)

•Coordinates with external vendorsfor the procurement of special dressings andconsumables.

•Liaises with and updatesthe Physicians and multidisciplinary team for any significantchanges in the plan of care ofwounds.

•Takes part in the nursingorientation to orient about wound careservices.

•Assesses staff'sskills for wound care management and provides additional trainingas needed.

•Performs wound caremanagement in accordance with established standards, policies andprocedures and best practiceguidelines.

•Maintains accurate andthorough documentation following establishedstandards.

•Liaises with MaterialsManagement and the multidisciplinary clinical team to establish andmaintain an appropriate line of wound care products for use withthe American Hospital Dubai's patient population.

•Attends Product StandardizationCommittee meetings as necessary to promote and advocate forappropriate wound care products.

•Conducts weekly Wound Care rounds inthe inpatient areas along with thesurgeon.

•Conducts daily unit rounds forproactive planning of care of the patients inneed.

•Provides input in the selectionof Quality measures related to wound care and collects and analysesdata accordingly.

•Shares Qualitymeasures results and action plans with the unit Managers andfollows up on the execution.

•Monitorsincidence and prevalence of hospital pressureinjuries.

•Reviews the QualityManagement related to pressure injuries and determine if they areconsidered Healthcare Acquired Pressure Ulcers/Injuries (HAPU/I),Community-Acquired Pressure Ulcers/Injuries (CAPU/I) orexcluded.
