Roles and responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Towork as part of the Nursery Team to deliver high standards of care,child development, and learning for the nursery children in awelcoming, caring, and safe environment.
  • Tocontribute to the Nursery’s highest standards of physicaland emotional care, health and safety, and personal and foodhygiene at all times.
  • To comply with allregulatory requirements, including theEYFS.
  • The post holder reports to the RoomLeader and works closely with the NurseryTeacher
  • The post holder is also accountable tothe Principal and Vice Principal
  • Develop andmaintain positive relationships with children, colleagues, andparents or carers
  • To assist in maintaining astimulating, engaging, and interactive learning environment for allchildren.
  • assist with the delivery of the dailyprogram of purposeful play activities to suit thechildren’s needs and stages of development, supportingand promoting each child’slearning.
  • To guide and monitorchildren’s progress, provide feedback to the Room Leaderon pupil progress, assessing and observing whererequired.
  • To ensure that activities are carriedout safely and advise the Room Leader of any concerns overchildren, equipment, etc.
  • Be proactive insupporting classroom routines, so children are continuallysupported.
  • To assist in meeting the care needsof the children, such as feeding, sleeping, and nappychanges.
  • Working creatively with the childrenwithin the Nursery, as instructed by the RoomLeader.
  • To be involved in positive interactionswith the children by supporting or providing stimulating activitiesthat respond to their interests and developmentalneeds.
  • Ensure effective working practice isfollowed, including safeguarding and adhering to all Schoolpolicies and procedures.
  • Assist with thechildren’s weaning and eating needs, encouraging childrento eat and drink when required. Report children’s dailyeating and toileting habits to the Room Leader and/or NurseryTeacher.
  • Ensuring effective supervision atmealtimes and that all dietary requirements are adhered to forchildren within your room.
  • Ensure anappropriate, safe, and secure learning environment, e.g., lockinggates, spillage of water, monitoring the condition oftoys/equipment, and reporting any concerns to the RoomLeader.
  • Always maintain a clean and safeenvironment both inside and outside.
  • Workingwithin the School’s Health and Safety Policy to ensure asafe environment for the children, their parents and carers, thenursery team, and any visitors to theNursery.
  • To be sensitive to the needs of allchildren.
  • Promote positive values, attitudes,and good behavior of children.
  • Promote positiveprofessional relationships with the Nursery team. • Workas part of the whole Nursery Team and take on additionalresponsibilities as required.
  • Be available towork in any area of the Nursery, undertaking the care andsupervision of the children and ensuring its smoothrunning.
  • To carry out playtime and lunchtimeduties, including helping children with outdoorclothing.
  • To help with the set-up and tidyingup of daily activities and resources, including domestic tasks suchas preparing snacks, cleansing of equipment and laundry,etc.
  • To be able to oversee individuals andsmall groups as directed. • To complete simpleadministrative tasks.
  • Reappraising professionalperformance, keeping up to date with EYFS requirements &best practices.
  • Engaging actively in theperformance review
  • Undertake additional dutiesas required by the Principal or Vice Principal as appropriate. Ewprocess and participate in CPDopportunities.
  • Attend meetings and INSET, asrequired.
  • Ensure confidentiality is maintainedin the nursery.

  8. BasicFirst Aid: Knowledge of first aid and emergencyprocedures to ensure the safety ofchildren.
