PositionSummary
Under the directsupervision of the Medical Records Director or other designatedmanager, responsible for the maintenance of health records;organizes and maintains a system of files and records concerningpatient diagnosis, treatments, admissions, discharges and dailypatient census changes; exercises good judgment, and functionsindependently. Utilizes electronic medical record system asapplicable throughout the scope of duties andresponsibilities.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Ensures confidentiality of allmedical records information and completes forms for release ofinformation. Refers to supervisor any requests of questionablenature.
- Performs clerical/technical dutieswithin scope of positionclassification:
- Maintains a Daily CountLog.
- Provides assistance related to medicalrecords and transfers of offenders from institution to institution,incoming and outgoing.
- Makes copies of medicalrecords as instructed by the Medical RecordsDirector.
- Pulls, files and sorts medicalrecords daily as needed.
- Answers telephone,relays messages and transfers calls asappropriate.
- Files loose documentationgenerated from inside and outsideinstitutions.
- Maintains file system for medicalrecords.
- Performs data entry of patientinformation for offender data into Offender360.
- Utilizes Offender 360 to send offendercall-passes within the facility.
- Maintainsffurlough logs as requested
- Reviews charts forDepartment of Corrections Administrative Directiverequirements.
- Retrieves and sortsmail.
- Thins medical records as necessary or asdirected.
- Assists with getting records tocorrect persons for health statusreviews.
- Without providing opinions, respondsto inquiries regarding information contained in the medical recordas directed by the Medical RecordsDirector.
- Copies, retrieves or organizespieces/parts of the medical record for the clinical providers asrequested.
- Creates patient's charts asneeded.
- Refers all clinical decision making toclinical staff or immediate supervisor and at no time acts toprovide clinical opinion, clinical decisions or clinical directionto patients.
- Upon receiving the necessarytraining and/or instruction, perform other duties asrequired
